On the morning of December 12th, the hall was arranged into two parallel rows of tables and chairs, with bread, milk, and bottled water already laid out. The principal and several teachers came out to welcome 25 students representing grades 3, 4, and 5 to have breakfast together, which was also the third student council meeting of the 2025-2026 school year.
Fun and educational
During the meeting, the students frankly suggested that the principal maintain the sleep education day, increase team-based sports activities, organize experiential activities to historical sites along with competitions, especially in foreign languages...
Regarding the upcoming Spring Festival of Love, students have suggested wearing casual clothes, showcasing recycled fashion combined with stalls and games. In addition, many have expressed a desire for the school to have a canteen, a separate kitchen, and a more diverse menu for the school lunch program.
Nguyen Vo Anh Quan (class 5/2), the school's student council president, said that before the breakfast event, the school had sent out a survey about educational activities. The results showed that 61% of students really liked the school's educational activities, 35% liked them, and 4% felt they were average.
13% of students found the school lunch very delicious, 56% said it was delicious, 30% considered it average, and only 1% disliked the school lunch. Regarding the afternoon nap at school, 44% of students said it was very comfortable, 34% found it comfortable, 21% considered it average, and only 1% found it uncomfortable.
Quân commented that the student council meeting, held in the form of a breakfast meeting with the principal, was very friendly and enjoyable, providing an opportunity for students to express their thoughts, aspirations, and desires regarding student-related activities. "In previous meetings, most of our suggestions were acknowledged, addressed, and implemented by the principal to the best of the school's ability," Quân said.
Understanding students better
The meeting is an initiative that began in the 2025-2026 school year for students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Council members are outstanding students elected by their class (3 students per class) to represent their class, offer suggestions, and present their wishes to the school administration at each meeting.
Choosing the breakfast-sharing format, Mr. Le Hong Thai - Principal of Phan Van Tri Primary School - said that this creates an additional channel for the principal to listen to students' voices in the most frank and authentic way, in line with the goal of student-centered education.
At the two previous meetings, many student suggestions were incorporated into the school's first semester educational plan. These included organizing "Happy Friday" (where students can wear their favorite clothes to school), adjusting lunch break times and class start times, and innovating the organization of the Mid-Autumn Festival...
However, not all suggestions and requests from students can be fulfilled by the school. But this is a channel that helps students better understand and share the school's difficulties, and know that teachers are working hard and joining hands to provide the best educational environment for them.
"You, the members of the student council, will be directly involved in developing the school's educational plan. The goal is to ensure that each educational activity is as close as possible to the students' desires, and that they are eager and look forward to participating," Mr. Thai stated.
