According to a press conference held by Buriram United ahead of their match against CAHN in the first round of Group B at the 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Club Championship, veteran defender Theerathon will be absent due to injury.
Despite being short of players and playing away against CAHN FC, a club with many national team players in their squad, coach Osmar Loss showed his determination to win. He shared: “This is our first time participating in this tournament. Buriram United has prepared thoroughly and will strive for the best possible result.”
The absence of Theerathon Bunmathan is a major loss for Buriram United, however, we are confident that we will have suitable replacements to fill the void he leaves behind.”
Indeed, the absence of a veteran defender like Theerathon is a significant disadvantage for the Thai team, especially considering CAHN's strong attack. Furthermore, the home team has coach Polking, who is very familiar with Buriram United's players and playing style. Therefore, organizing counter-attacks against CAHN will be a considerable challenge for Buriram United.
Meanwhile, player Sasalak Haiprakhon praised Quang Hai and coach Polking: “We had a good start to the season. That helps Buriram United in the upcoming match against CAHN Club.”
I think working with Coach Polking has been a great time. We've had conversations and he hopes I'll continue to perform well in the future. I also rate Quang Hai and his magical left foot as a very dangerous weapon. He has caused a lot of difficulties for the Thai team.”
The match between CAHN FC and Buriram United will take place at 7:30 PM on August 22nd at Hang Day Stadium. This group also includes Borneo Samarinda (Indonesia), Lion City Sailor FC (Singapore), Kaya FC Iioilo (Philippines), and Kuala Lumpur City (Malaysia). The six teams will play a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian Champions League.
