The program, themed "Creating a Trustworthy Digital Space," aims to build a safe, humane, and trustworthy internet based on trust to serve socio-economic development.
The event revolves around four pillars: trust between people with civilized behavior and sharing accurate information; trust from the platform with transparency, fairness, and reliable data; trust from technology with ethical AI, stable digital infrastructure, and sustainable data; and trust from the community as businesses, organizations, and users work together to foster a culture of digital integrity.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long emphasized that the Vietnamese internet is undergoing a strong shift from a development space primarily based on the self-regulation of stakeholders to a space governed by institutions and laws; from information transmission to a space shaping social behavior and decisions; and from the exploitation of distributed data to viewing data as a resource for development that needs to be responsibly managed. Therefore, the Vietnam Internet Association needs to be more substantive in creating a safe and reliable internet environment.
Filip Graovac, Deputy Country Representative of The Asia Foundation in Vietnam, believes that micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) need to be equipped with essential tools and knowledge to protect themselves. Currently, 80% of MSMEs in the region consider online platforms a key factor for success. Digital trust is a mandatory requirement in business strategy for any enterprise wishing to thrive in the digital environment.
With the goal of developing a safe and reliable internet, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Acting Director of the Vietnam Internet Center, stated that by 2025, the Vietnam Internet Center will apply AI to expand the handling of domain name abuse, effectively prevent and combat acts of impersonation and violations in cyberspace, especially violations involving the use of international domain names across borders; automate network monitoring and management; and strengthen the protection of Vietnam's internet resources through protective technologies.
In the context of online fraud targeting vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those with limited access to technology, VNPT Cyber Immunity is aiming for a comprehensive user protection approach by forming a "digital immune system," comprising: VNPT S-Defender (identifying and preventing online fraud), VNPT Family Safe (supporting the protection of children and families in the digital space), and VNPT CyCare (a mechanism for sharing financial risks and supporting recovery when incidents occur).
