Coach Inzaghi is proud of Inter Milan, especially praising a Barca player

With a spectacular 4-3 extra-time win over Barca in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals (7-6 on aggregate), Simone Inzaghi's Inter Milan entered the race for the European title for the second time in the last three seasons.

Inter Milan fans had an ecstatic night, after a 3-3 draw that they had reason to regret at Barca's stadium.

Similar to the first leg, Inter Milan once again led Barca by 2 goals thanks to Lautaro Martinez and a penalty successfully executed by Hakam Calhanoglu.

But Barca turned the game around to lead 3-2 with Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo and Raphinha getting on the scoresheet. Francesco Acerbi brought the game into extra time with an equaliser (90+3') - his first goal in the Champions League, at the age of 37. Then Davide Frattessi scored a great goal to seal a 4-3 victory for Inter Milan (99th minute), eventually eliminating Barca with a 7-6 aggregate score.

Captain Simone expressed his joy and pride after the match: “ Playing against a strong Barca requires a super Inter Milan, if you want to beat them. I want to send my compliments to my boys for their extraordinary performance in both matches. That is the only way to advance to the Champions League final.

I am very proud to have led them, they fought with all their might. The players who came off the bench also showed great spirit and attitude. They deserved this moment in front of the fans. We are really happy. The players are exemplary.

I told them to believe that we can limit Barca's strength, although it will not be easy. The team has Lautaro Martinez, Dumfries and Frattesi who are not at 100% fitness, so we used all our hearts to overcome all the obstacles. Inter Milan managed to bring out all their strength. We deserve to be in the final of the Champions League this season ."

The Nerazzurri boss had special praise for one Barca player, after calling Lamine Yamal a 'phenomenon' in the first leg:

“ People talk a lot about Lamine Yamal, but I see another talented player of Barca, after 2 matches against them, that is Frenkie de Jong.

He impressed me as much as Lamine Yamal. De Jong was very intelligent, handled the ball neatly and passed with great accuracy.

I wouldn't swap my players for anyone in the world , but I have to admit, De Jong was really excellent in the two semi-final matches, Inter Milan vs Barca ."

Tonight (2am on May 8), Simone Inzaghi will surely watch the remaining semi-final to see whether PSG or Arsenal will be Inter Milan's opponent in the final at Allianz Arena taking place at 2am on June 1.
