Coach Kim Sang-sik again ignores the naturalized striker who scored 221 goals in V.League

Coach Kim Sang-sik still did not call up striker Hoang Vu Samson despite facing many difficulties in terms of personnel in the attack. The Quang Nam player is not in the plan of the Vietnamese team to prepare for the matches in March 2025.

Fans are somewhat regretful about the case of Hoang Vu Samson, especially when Nguyen Xuan Son shone brightly in the Vietnam national team shirt. Until the star of Nam Dinh Club was seriously injured after the AFF Cup 2024, the door to the Vietnam national team was still closed for Samson. Perhaps, the striker of Quang Nam Club really has no fate with the national team.

Hoang Vu Samson has no chance to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey.

He came to Vietnam in 2007 and officially received citizenship at the end of 2013, after more than 5 years of living and working. When the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) started the plan to use naturalized players, Samson was already old.

This star was born in 1988 and will be 37 years old when the season ends. However, his number of goals and assists this season is more than that of young strikers such as Van Toan, Vi Hao, Thanh Binh or Tuan Hai.

Last season, he even scored 13 goals and had 1 assist for his teammate to score in Quang Nam Club. This year, Samson still managed to score 4 goals and had 1 assist, contributing greatly to helping Quang Nam compete in the relegation race.

Samson still plays well but is no longer superior to domestic players. At 36 years old, he only meets his professional requirements if used in the second half. Coach Kim Sang-sik needs to give more opportunities to young strikers because they are the future of the Vietnamese team.

For now, the Laos team is not a strong opponent in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The Vietnamese team, despite the absence of Xuan Son, still needs to win.
