On the afternoon of October 3, at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi), the opening ceremony of the Hanoi International Women's Football Tournament - T&T Group Cup 2024 took place. This is the first international women's football tournament at the club level to be held in Vietnam.
The 4 teams participating in this tournament include Hanoi , Thai Nguyen T&T (Vietnam), Beijing (China) and Manila Digger (Philippines). The 6 matches of the Hanoi International Women's Football Tournament will take place in 3 days: October 3, October 5 and October 7, with 2 matches each day. Notably, Coach Mai Duc Chung - Head Coach of the Vietnam Women's Football Team also attended the matches on the opening day, adding fuel to the fire for the Vietnamese girls.
Hanoi Women's Football Club won 6-0 against Manila Digger. Coach Dao Thuy Mien said she wanted to give young players a chance, but surprisingly, she put 7 national team players in the starting lineup.
Hanoi FC scored 3 goals against the Philippines representative before half an hour had passed. The duo Vu Thi Hoa and Nguyen Thi Hoa scored 2 goals, before captain Pham Hai Yen headed the ball close to the goal, raising the score to 3-0.
In the second half, Hanoi slowed down but still scored 3 more goals. Goals from Hai Yen, Tu Anh and an own goal from Manila Digger helped Hanoi close the match with a 6-0 victory.

Previously, in the opening match of the 2024 Hanoi International Women's Football Tournament, Thai Nguyen T&T defeated Beijing with a score of 3-1. Beijing started well, but was at a disadvantage very early after individual mistakes.
In the 7th minute, goalkeeper Hong Yan rushed out of the penalty area and blocked the ball with his hand. The referee immediately sent Hong Yan off, forcing Beijing to play with one less player.
After the red card from the opposing team, coach Van Thi Thanh's students gradually regained control of the game and scored 3 goals. The players who scored for Thai Nguyen were Nguyen Thi My Anh, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy and Ngoc Minh Chuyen. Beijing only managed to score an honorary goal in the final minutes, thanks to Xin Ling.
Thai Nguyen defeated Beijing with a score of 3-1.
After the match, coach Mai Duc Chung assessed that Beijing is a team with good quality, equal to Thai Nguyen, but the Vietnamese representative played well. "Through the recent match, I see that Beijing is a team with strength equal to the teams in Vietnam.
Congratulations to Thai Nguyen for winning the first team. They have players who are playing for the Vietnam national team, so their strength has also improved. However, coach Van Thi Thanh has just arrived at the club and will still have a lot of work to do, from improving passing, moving, and running."
The 73-year-old coach encouraged the female players to actively compete with international opponents: "Previously, only players on the national team had the time and conditions to go abroad for training. International friendly tournaments at the club level were almost never held. It is really beneficial for Vietnamese female players to compete, compete, and gain experience with foreign teams."
