The Vietnamese women's team had their first training session at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. This is the first training session towards important international missions in 2025. The first is the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers.

Sharing about the number of players gathered for the warm-up session, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “In this training session, there are no players from the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club and the Vietnam U19 youth team. These two teams are currently focusing on other tasks. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City will compete in the AFC Champions League semi-finals with Wuhan Jiangda.”

Mr. Mai Duc Chung is optimistic about having many young players in this gathering: “In the list of the Vietnamese women's team, we give opportunities to many young players. As everyone knows, some older players are currently having their form and fitness affected to some extent. Therefore, the coaching staff wants to call young players with ability and capacity to practice and learn from the older players to balance their expertise and mix their forces to complete their tasks well this year.”

After this period, from June 8 to 18, the Vietnamese women's team will train in Japan before entering the 2026 Asian Cup Women's Qualifiers, with Group E matches taking place at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ) from June 29 to July 5.

Sharing about the preparation process for the Vietnamese women's team, Mr. Mai Duc Chung shared: "The Vietnamese women's team has the advantage of being the host of the 2026 Asian Cup Women's Qualifiers. The whole team is determined in this tournament."

According to the first training session of the women's team, two players, central defender Luong Thi Thu Thuong and midfielder Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, had to practice separately. The remaining 23 players focused mainly on physical training under the guidance of fitness coach Cedric Roger. This was necessary because many Vietnamese women's players had a month off after the 2025 Women's National Cup.

The diverse exercises from fitness coach Cedric Roger have released the inertia of the players. In addition, the French expert also cleverly integrated challenges and games to create more excitement for the female players.

Starting today (May 7), Coach Mai Duc Chung will practice a combination of technical and tactical training on the field and physical training in the gym.

During this short training session, the Vietnamese women’s team will have two friendly matches. It is expected that on May 12, the team will compete with the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Club. On May 16, the “Golden Star Warriors” will have the opportunity to compete with the Werder Bremen Women’s Club.

In 2025, the Vietnamese women's team will compete in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers, the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.

Werder Bremen Women's Club is one of the top women's football leagues in Europe and the world . The club is ranked 8th out of 18 teams in the Bundesliga Women's League. After 32 rounds, the team has won 13, drawn 8 and lost 11, scoring 50 goals and conceding 16.

The star of the Werder Bremen women's team is Larissa Mühlhaus. The 22-year-old striker has scored eight goals for Bremen in this year's tournament. Last year, while playing for Hamburg, Larissa Mühlhaus scored 22 goals, winning the Golden Boot in the German women's second division.
