Man United will have a friendly match with the ASEAN All-Stars team on the evening of May 28 at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
At the press conference before the match today (May 27), coach Amorim unexpectedly mentioned Vietnamese football during an interview.
The Portuguese coach was asked how he assessed the development of Southeast Asian football and whether there were any players he was following or knew about?
This was indeed a tricky question for Mr. Amorim, but the Man United coach answered very cleverly: "I myself don't have much information about Southeast Asia, but I know that football here is developing strongly."
He also admitted that it was difficult to name any player, but coach Amorim knew the fierce competition between Vietnamese football and the region.
The Man United captain believes this is a good thing and promotes the development of Southeast Asian football.
In addition, the Portuguese coach also emphasized that Man United will play their best to win the upcoming match. He also thanked the warm affection of Southeast Asian fans for his team.
Man United brought to Southeast Asia almost its strongest squad with stars such as: Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire, Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro, Amad Diallo, Andre Onana...
On the other side of the battle line, although called ASEAN All-Stars, coach Kim Sang Sik could not have all the stars for many different reasons.
In total, ASEAN All-Stars has 26 players. Malaysia has the largest number with 5 players. Next are Australia and Vietnam (4), Thailand (3), Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia (2). Laos, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Singapore has only one player.
Vietnam team contributed 4 players: Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Van Vi and Do Duy Manh.
