Nguyen Cong Phuong and Nguyen Van Quyet were not included in the Vietnamese national team's October squad. This is the final training camp for the international matches before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region. The Vietnamese team will play three matches against strong opponents: South Korea, China, and Uzbekistan.
Coach Philippe Troussier has called up 33 players, nearly half of whom are U23 national team members. The French coach clearly intends to experiment, giving opportunities at a higher level to some young players who have performed well recently at the U20 and U23 levels.
Cong Phuong was not included in the Vietnamese national team's October squad.
In addition, coach Troussier called up five young players: Dang Tuan Phong, Nguyen Duc Anh, Tran Nam Hai, Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong, and Nguyen Quang Huy. These players are not on the official Vietnam national team roster but will train with the senior players at the beginning of the training camp, as many of the team's players have not yet joined the squad.
The Vietnamese national team will gather in Hanoi starting October 2nd. Players from Hanoi Police FC, Thanh Hoa FC, Hanoi FC, and Hai Phong FC will join later due to their participation in the National Super Cup, AFC Champions League, and AFC Cup.
On October 8th, the Vietnamese national team departed for China to play two international friendly matches. Coach Troussier's team will face China on October 10th and Uzbekistan on October 13th. Afterward, the Vietnamese team will travel to South Korea for a friendly match against the host nation on October 17th.
