This content was discussed at the seminar "Product Solutions for the Data for Life Season 3 Competition," organized by the Data for Life 2025 Competition Organizing Committee in collaboration with VTC News online newspaper.

At the seminar, Dr. Dinh Viet Sang - Vice Rector of the School of Information Technology and Communications, Hanoi University of Science and Technology - stated that implementing innovative data-driven solutions in practice currently presents many opportunities along with challenges.

From an opportunity perspective, Dr. Dinh Viet Sang emphasized the crucial role of investment and attention from the Government. Globally , artificial intelligence and data analytics are receiving massive investments from major technology corporations. Products like ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI models from China and South Korea have been and are being opened up for the community to utilize.

This is a crucial prerequisite for Vietnam to inherit open AI models, thereby developing specific models that are suitable for the country's unique conditions, data, and problems.

However, opportunities always come with challenges. First, according to Dr. Dinh Viet Sang, the problem lies in the data itself. Building and interconnecting databases between ministries, departments, and agencies remains a key issue.

"How can we create a unified and comprehensive database? Only then can we train AI models to serve the government 's operations," analyzed Dr. Dinh Viet Sang.

Furthermore, experience from countries like Singapore and South Korea shows that open data portals not only help citizens, businesses, and researchers access sample data, but also stimulate the generation of many innovative ideas.

Feasible ideas can then receive government support to develop into complete products. Therefore, according to Dr. Dinh Viet Sang, Vietnam should also have policies to open up data for the community to exploit, use, and research.

Ultimately, the human element remains key. Training and attracting high-quality human resources in the fields of AI and data analytics is a long-term strategic requirement.

Dr. Vo Sy Nam - Director of Science and Technology at Genestory, and Director of the Biomedical Informatics Center - Vingroup Big Data Research Institute, believes that data is a new "mine".

As a mentor and supporter in perfecting the products of the competing teams at Data for Life 2025, Dr. Vo Sy Nam affirmed: “When we stand before a ‘sea’ of data, we will have solutions to exploit it. I also hope that the competing teams will be able to exploit data from many aspects interwoven into life, because it is a gold mine. Whoever holds the data in their hands will have a lot.”

Dr. Vo Sy Nam also believes that when data is interconnected and we make good use of that data, there will be many more applications that serve the people better.

Meanwhile, Dr. Syed Mabub, a lecturer in Computer Science and Information Technology and a member of the competition's judging panel, stated that for any country, the core objective when developing data-driven solutions is to address practical real-life problems—problems that can have a real impact on people and improve their quality of life.

For example, Australia is collaborating with various organizations to apply data to address regional challenges such as climate change, drought, and flooding.

He emphasized that: "The ultimate goal when developing data-driven solutions is to create value that can improve the lives of people and the more disadvantaged groups in our lives."

According to the speakers at the panel discussion, one of the outstanding highlights of this year's Data for Life competition teams is the practicality and creativity of their ideas.

From healthcare, education, transportation, social welfare, and the environment to disaster forecasting, the challenges posed are closely linked to the urgent needs of life. Not stopping at mere ideas, the competing teams boldly applied the most advanced technologies available today to transform them into commercially viable products.

The Data for Life 2025 competition, organized by the Ministry of Public Security in collaboration with various agencies, universities, and businesses, is asserting its position as a strategic technological arena.

This also presents an opportunity for tech talents to fully utilize data to address "bottlenecks" in social life, thereby directly contributing to the process of building a digital government, digital economy, and digital society in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW.

The seminar "Product Solutions for the Data for Life Season 3 Competition" was organized by the Organizing Committee of the Data for Life 2025 Competition in collaboration with VTC News online newspaper, within the framework of the Exhibition round of the competition.
