Coach Vu Hong Viet asked to resign from leading Nam Dinh Club

Mr. Vu Hong Viet resigned as head coach of Nam Dinh Club after losing to Gamba Osaka on October 22 at the Asian Cup.

On October 23, Coach Vu Hong Viet resigned from the position of Head Coach of Nam Dinh Club. However, the leadership of the Nam Dinh team wants Mr. Viet to lead the team for one more match before parting ways. The Nam Dinh team will decide to terminate the contract with Mr. Viet today (October 24).

The 1-3 defeat against Gamba Osaka on October 22 in the third round of Group F of AFC Champions League Two 2025 - 2026 was Nam Dinh's fifth consecutive winless match in all competitions.

Previously in the V-League, the team under the leadership of coach Vu Hong Viet went through 4 consecutive matches with only draws and losses, currently falling to 9th place on the rankings. The 0-2 loss to Ninh Binh in round 4 on September 22 was the beginning of Nam Dinh's crisis.

That was a disappointing result for the defending champion in the context that the team still received strong investment to upgrade the squad this season. Despite having many quality foreign players, Nam Dinh still played in a deadlock. That was the reason why coach Vu Hong Viet had to leave.

After parting ways with coach Vu Hong Viet, Nam Dinh Club will quickly find a new coach to continue the remaining journey.

The team still has its goals in 4 arenas: V-League, National Cup, AFC Champions League Two and ASEAN Club Championship 2025 - 2026.

Coach Vu Hong Viet was born in 1979, he has led U16 - U19 Vietnam, Quang Nam Club and is an assistant to the Vietnam national team. Mr. Viet has led Nam Dinh Club since 2022, helping the team win two consecutive V-League championships in the 2023 - 2024 and 2024 - 2025 seasons.
