At about 6 p.m. the same day, flames and billowing black smoke began to rise from a closed scrap warehouse on Highway 5, about 1km from Bon Xa intersection.

As soon as the incident was discovered, many nearby residents quickly tried to put out the fire with water pipes and mini fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful because the fire broke out too quickly and strongly.

A bright red fire broke out from the scrap warehouse, the heat spread widely, black smoke rushed into surrounding houses causing suffocation, people panicked and ran outside.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Force, Ho Chi Minh City Police, mobilized many specialized vehicles and more than 20 officers and soldiers to urgently arrive at the scene; promptly deployed water cannons, divided into many approaches, focused on extinguishing the fire and taking measures to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding households.

After about 30 minutes of effort, the fire was completely controlled.
A representative of the People’s Committee of Binh Hung Hoa Ward said that the fire fortunately did not cause any human casualties. However, the entire scrap warehouse was almost completely burned down. The roof and walls collapsed, and the steel frame was deformed by the heat.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire.
