Vietnam drew 1-1 with Thailand in the final round despite being behind early in the first half, finishing second behind Thailand in Group B of the 32nd SEA Games men's football. With this draw, both teams are level on points, but Thailand is ranked higher thanks to a better goal difference, thereby avoiding Indonesia - the unbeaten team in Group A.

U22 Thailand started the game better and opened the score in the 3rd minute. Center back Luong Duy Cuong slipped and tripped, allowing striker Achitpol to steal the ball and pass goalkeeper Huy Hoang to score into the U22 Vietnam net.
In the remaining time of the first half, U22 Vietnam held the ball more, creating some good opportunities, but the strikers appeared lackluster.
In the second half, U22 Thailand played a bit worse and were tied 1-1 in the 54th minute. From Van Khang's free kick, the Thai goalkeeper could not catch it. Duy Cuong stole the ball and sent it to the right wing for Van Cuong to cross in. Center back Ngoc Thang's shot hit a Thai defender and bounced out, Nhat Nam kicked the rebound from more than 10 meters away to equalize for U22 Vietnam.

In the semi-finals, Thailand will play Myanmar - the second team in Group A, while Vietnam will meet Indonesia.
