VnExpressVnExpress24/09/2023

At the reception for Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Phan Viet Cuong (right) said that the Crown Prince's visit is of great significance, as the whole country and Quang Nam province organize many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023).

Mr. Phan Viet Cuong emphasized that the ancient town of Hoi An is a living proof of the good traditional relationship between the two countries, from the marriage between Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro 400 years ago.

Princess Ngoc Hoa was the adopted daughter of Lord Sai Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, married to Araki Sotaro, a Japanese merchant who led the businessmen who came to trade in Hoi An in 1619. She later supported the Japanese merchants to promote trade with the Nguyen Dynasty.

"Every step of development of Quang Nam province today has received encouragement, sharing and active support from Japanese partners and localities," Mr. Cuong shared.
