Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 2,350 schools, of which about 1,350 are public schools, with tuition fees ranging from VND900,000 to VND2.7 million per year. Last year, tuition fees at non-public schools, including foreign-invested schools, ranged from VND20 million to over VND900 million. The highest level was at the International School of Ho Chi Minh City (ISHC), applicable to grades 11 and 12.
For non-public schools, the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training requires that tuition fees not be collected for multiple years or for the entire level of education. Domestically-funded schools must have at least 40% permanent teachers. Foreign-funded schools must teach the licensed curriculum, must not admit more than 50% Vietnamese students, and must fully implement compulsory education for Vietnamese students.
