Over the past time, the cadres and members of the Association of the Elderly (ECA) in the province have always set a good example, constantly studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style through specific and practical actions in all areas of social life. The actions of the ECA members have contributed to the socio -economic development of the locality, becoming a good example for the younger generation to learn and follow.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hieu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Deputy Representative of the Provincial Elderly Association, said: Implementing Directive No. 05 - CT/TW of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, the Elderly Associations at all levels in the province have focused on promoting propaganda and implementing study in many forms and with rich content. Upholding the spirit of "Old age - bright example", each cadre and member has registered to strive to follow Uncle Ho with specific, practical actions, suitable to the actual conditions in the locality, such as participating in production development, helping each other to sustainably reduce poverty; participating in maintaining and ensuring security and order at the grassroots level; building new rural areas; building cultural life in residential areas...
One of the typical activities following Uncle Ho is the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" in doing good business. Up to now, the whole province has nearly a thousand models of elderly people doing good business in various fields. Of which, there are 686 agricultural production models, hundreds of industrial - construction production models, small-scale industrial production, trade and service models with total revenue reaching thousands of billions of VND/year, creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers.
Along with the economic development competition, many cadres and members actively participate in social, humanitarian and charitable activities to help thousands of poor and disadvantaged households to stabilize their lives. Typically, Ms. Tran Thi Loan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Director of Ha Nam Ninh Food Joint Stock Company, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association, combines high-tech orchid cultivation, earning hundreds of billions of VND annually, regularly contributing to social security work, supporting the poor in the province with hundreds of millions of VND each year; Mr. Tran Van Diem, Nhan Thinh Commune (Ly Nhan) directly manages and operates Nam Son Joint Stock Company, annually producing hundreds of thousands of bricks, creating regular jobs for about 50 workers with an income of 6 - 10 million VND/month; Mr. Doan Minh Phong, Bac Ly Commune (Ly Nhan) boldly invested in the construction of the Manh Hung Urban Area project, creating regular jobs for 20 workers, with a stable income at a high level.
With the motto "The elderly set a good example, contribute ideas, and contribute to building new rural areas", cadres and members of the elderly association have set an example in mobilizing their children and grandchildren to take the lead in implementing the criteria on income, housing, and environment; mobilizing people to renovate their houses, donate money and working days to build welfare works, build village and hamlet roads, internal irrigation, and build village cultural houses... At the same time, promoting their exemplary role, cadres and members of the elderly association have actively mobilized people to classify waste at source, collect waste and bring it to designated locations and treat waste and waste in residential areas, not polluting the environment in the area. Thereby making the residential environment green, clean, and beautiful, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". The association levels coordinate with organizations to organize members to sign a commitment to register to build residential areas free of drugs and social evils, promoting the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life". As a result, every year, the percentage of elderly members' families achieving the title of "Cultural Family" always accounts for more than 90%.
Responding to the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", all levels of the association have focused on building and maintaining cultural, artistic, sports and physical education clubs (CLBs). Up to now, the whole province has established nearly a thousand cultural, artistic, sports and folk dance clubs, attracting more than 46,000 elderly members and people to participate, creating a useful playground for "Living happily, living healthily" for the elderly; at the same time, creating a healthy living environment, contributing to crime prevention, building peaceful villages and hamlets, cultural residential areas, free of crime and social evils. Typically, the Thanh Liem District Elderly Association has nearly 6,000 members regularly participating in more than 300 cultural, artistic and physical education clubs; the Phu Ly City Elderly Association has nearly 200 cultural and sports clubs that maintain regular activities, organizing many exchanges every year. Thanks to the effective promotion of sports clubs, the sports movement has contributed to improving the quality of club activities, encouraging members to live happily, healthily and usefully.
It can be affirmed that by setting an example of learning and following Uncle Ho through specific and practical actions and deeds, the Association of the Elderly in the province has contributed significantly to economic development, poverty reduction, ensuring security and order, and building new rural areas in the area. At the same time, it has created a strong and widespread spread in learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in each family, residential area and the whole society, becoming exemplary models for the younger generation to follow. In the coming time, the Association of the Elderly at all levels in the province will continue to strengthen propaganda work, promote learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style among all cadres and members; mobilize members to support and help each other to develop the economy, build a strong association, contributing to completing the socio-economic development targets set by the locality.
