Bac Kan Provincial Journalists Association effectively implements the work of inspecting and supervising its members.

The work of checking and supervising members is thoroughly understood and seriously implemented.

In many localities across the country, since the establishment of the Council for Handling Violations of Professional Ethics at all levels, this Code has been disseminated to members and journalists of their units. The opinions of the Council for Handling Violations have been received, recorded and processed by all levels of the association, receiving high consensus from members and journalists.

There have been many cases of journalists, members, and reporters who have violated the law and the 10 regulations on professional ethics for Vietnamese journalists and have been disciplined. The Council for Handling Violations of Professional Ethics for Journalists at the Central, local, and unit levels has reviewed and disciplined more than 30 cases of violations of the regulations on professional ethics for Vietnamese journalists, from criticism and warnings to expulsion and revocation of membership cards.

Journalist Luc Dai Luong, Deputy Director of Bac Kan Provincial Radio and Television Station, Chairman of Bac Kan Provincial Journalists Association, assessed that "inspection and supervision is one of the important functions of all levels of the Journalists Association. Practice has confirmed that the Vietnam Journalists Association not only issues the Code of Professional Ethics but also inspects and supervises. Through inspection and supervision, the aim is to make the Code of Professional Ethics for Vietnamese journalists thoroughly understood, effectively implemented, and suitable to the practical professional activities of members and journalists in the current situation".

In fact, in Bac Kan province, the work of inspection, supervision and handling of violations by the Bac Kan Provincial Journalists Association has been strengthened, especially since the National Assembly promulgated the Press Law in 2016 and the Vietnam Journalists Association issued the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists. From 2017 to present, the Executive Committee of the Bac Kan Provincial Journalists Association has issued many plans to inspect members; receive and consider handling citizen petitions related to cadres, members and journalists.

Through the inspection, the Inspection Board of the Provincial Journalists Association requested the two affiliated journalist associations to strengthen political ideology, ethics and law education for members; remind two journalists to comply with the correct journalistic working procedures; remind one member to learn from experience and strictly comply with the Code of Conduct for Vietnamese Journalists. In 2018 alone, the Provincial Journalists Association decided to discipline one official and the Council for Handling Violations of the Code of Conduct for Journalists disciplined one member. The Provincial Journalists Association also proposed that the relevant agencies coordinate to review and handle acts of insulting the press and providing inaccurate information about the locality...

This work is carried out by the province in close association with ideological work, conducted openly, democratically, objectively, cautiously, strictly, and in accordance with regulations. When violations are discovered, they are resolutely and strictly handled to deter and educate the Association, its members, journalists, and journalists.

The Bac Kan Provincial Journalists Association always identifies inspection and supervision as an important task in the leadership of the Executive Committee, and the responsibility of the Association President, the Inspection Committee and the Secretariat of the affiliated journalist associations. Therefore, this work is carried out publicly, democratically, objectively, cautiously and strictly in accordance with the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

The inspection and supervision work of the Bac Kan Provincial Journalists Association is closely linked with the work of political and ideological education and professional ethics. The implementation and study of legal documents, Directives and Resolutions on press management and member management are always integrated into the seminars, discussions, meetings and professional exchanges of the Association; and are included in the content of regular activities by the Secretariat of the Journalists Association branches...

Each branch innovates and improves the quality of member inspection and supervision work.

According to journalist Luc Dai Luong, the affiliated branches also regularly strengthen management, education and training of members to proactively prevent and stop violations from occurring or not allowing them to recur, contributing to the effective implementation of the inspection, supervision and disciplinary work of the Association.

For example, at the Journalists Association of Bac Kan Radio and Television, although no member has been disciplined for violating professional ethics in the past, the Association always pays attention to managing, educating and training members to proactively prevent and stop violations from occurring or not allowing them to recur, contributing to proactively and effectively implementing the inspection, supervision and disciplinary work of the Association.

In the meetings, the Association always focuses on innovation and improving the quality of inspection and supervision of members in the performance of assigned duties and tasks. Focus on monitoring the implementation of the Party's guidelines, policies, resolutions, directives, regulations, policies and laws of the State, especially the press law, the Association's Charter, the Code of Professional Ethics and the Rules for the Use of Social Networks by Vietnamese Journalists, the Criteria for Press Agency Culture and the Culture of Vietnamese Journalists.

In addition, the Journalists Association of Bac Kan Radio and Television Station also strengthens its responsibility to advise the Provincial Council on handling violations of journalistic ethics in operating in accordance with regulations; supervises the Association's officials at all levels and members, journalists in exercising their assigned rights and responsibilities; promptly prevents signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle.

It can be said that the implementation of inspection, supervision and establishment of the Council for handling violations of the Code of Professional Ethics for Journalists in Bac Kan province has contributed positively and effectively to the timely prevention and handling of violations. This activity not only protects the legal practice rights of members but also propagates, educates, monitors, detects, prevents and handles violations by members.
