Workshop on Improving Access to Online Public Services for People in Ethnic Minority, Mountainous and Island Areas

On May 26 in Ha Long City, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to organize a scientific workshop on "Improving access and implementation of online public services for people in ethnic minority, mountainous and island areas in Quang Ninh: Results and solutions".

Attending the workshop were comrades Nguyen Hong Duong, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Le Van Chien, Director of the Institute of Leadership and Public Administration, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics ; along with experts and officials of departments, branches and localities.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Duong, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, delivered the opening speech at the workshop.

In his opening speech, Comrade Nguyen Hong Duong, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, emphasized: Quang Ninh has synchronously and comprehensively deployed online public services in all fields, achieving many outstanding results. In 2024, the number of online public service records reached 89.9% (doubled compared to 2021) and the satisfaction rate for online public services reached over 99.5%. However, there are still obstacles in infrastructure, awareness, skills, habits and financial capacity, especially in ethnic minority, mountainous and island areas of the province. The workshop is an important opportunity to gather intelligence, experience and contributions from scientists , experts and managers, in order to supplement theoretical and practical bases, clearly assess the current situation and propose solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of access and implementation of online public services for people in disadvantaged areas.

Delegates contributed many enthusiastic opinions at the workshop.

At the workshop, there were 10 comments from experts, departments, branches and localities, focusing on assessing the current situation of providing and accessing online public services for people, especially ethnic minorities, mountainous areas and islands. Delegates proposed many practical solutions to improve the ability to access and implement online public services, including: Continuing to invest in internet infrastructure, supporting smart devices for people in disadvantaged areas; strengthening digital skills training and diversifying propaganda, especially promoting the role of the Community Digital Technology Team and volunteer youth; simplifying the interface of the province's online public service portal, ensuring friendliness and multilingual support; reviewing and streamlining administrative procedures based on data interconnection; improving the quality of commune-level human resources in technology skills and guiding people...
