Consultative workshop to comment on draft laws for amendments

On May 19, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Son La province organized a consultation workshop to provide comments on the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front; the Law on Trade Unions; the Law on Youth; and the Law on Implementing Democracy at Grassroots Level. Attending the workshop were leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Women's Union of the province, and the Confederation of Labor of the province.

The Draft Law amending a number of articles of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front consists of 5 chapters and 34 articles; an increase of 1 chapter and 16 articles compared to the current Law. The Draft Law ensures the enhancement of the functions and tasks of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the direction of promoting democracy, representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the people. At the same time, it enhances the role of social supervision and criticism, contributing to ensuring consensus in society.

Consultative workshop to comment on draft laws for amendments.

The draft Trade Union Law amends and supplements 9/37 articles, clearly stipulating the position, role, and organization of trade unions; the right to propose legislation, trade union supervision activities; management and use of trade union finance and assets; and protection of legitimate interests of workers.

The Draft Law on Implementing Democracy at the Grassroots Level consists of 7 chapters and 59 articles; amending and supplementing 31/91 articles. The Law regulates the implementation of democracy in communes, wards and towns; in agencies, units; enterprises; stipulates the responsibilities of people's inspectors; responsibilities to ensure and implement state management of implementing democracy at the grassroots level...

The draft revised Youth Law supplements 2/41 articles; regulates the rights and obligations of youth; responsibilities of the state, family, school, society and youth organizations in implementing policies and laws on youth.

Delegates participated in giving comments on the draft amended Law.

At the workshop, delegates agreed and highly appreciated the amendments in the draft Law; focused on discussing and analyzing new points in the draft Laws. At the same time, they proposed to amend and supplement a number of contents, such as: Removing regulations on non-professional workers; studying and supplementing regulations on special economic administrative units; supplementing and regulating affiliated member organizations to ensure strict and consistent regulations between organizations and operating principles, in accordance with the provisions in the Law on the Fatherland Front; removing regulations on cadres and civil servants in the Law on Trade Unions...

Speaking at the workshop, the leader of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations highly appreciated the delegates' comments. The unit will continue to review and synthesize comments on draft laws to report to the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.
