More than 1,800 athletes participate in the Quang Ninh Open Sports Dance Tournament

TPO - This year's Quang Ninh Open Sports Dance Tournament set a record with more than 1,800 athletes from 60 clubs in the province and 12 provinces and cities across the country participating. According to the representative of Quang Ninh province, the tournament has become the largest tournament ever in the system of provincial dance tournaments.

On the morning of August 3, at the Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace (Tran Quoc Nghien Street, Ha Long Ward, Quang Ninh Province), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh Province held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Quang Ninh Province Open Sports Dance and Art Championship.

This year's tournament set a record with more than 1,800 athletes from 60 clubs in the province and 12 provinces and cities across the country participating, becoming the largest tournament ever in the provincial dance tournament system.

Taking place over 3 days, the tournament includes two main categories: Sports dance (classes A-F in Latin and Standard categories) and performing arts such as: folk dance, zumba, hip hop, aerobics, shuffle dance, yoga, dance...

Athletes compete in age groups from children to seniors, individually, in pairs and in teams, creating a vibrant, colorful and artistic atmosphere.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province - said that this tournament has the largest number of athletes participating ever. The tournament is organized to improve the effectiveness of the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and is part of the 2025 theme of improving the quality of economic growth, developing a culture rich in Quang Ninh's identity; achieving achievements to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day.

"More than 1,800 athletes from 60 clubs from 12 provinces and cities gathered here to exchange, learn, participate in competitions combined with discovery and experience tourism in Quang Ninh, contributing to promoting service tourism, developing culture, increasing income for local businesses, bringing economic benefits, enhancing the position and image of the land and people of Quang Ninh to friends," Mr. Tung added.

The 2025 Quang Ninh Open Sports and Arts Dance Championship is divided into 14 groups with 206 categories in age groups such as children, teenagers, youth, U21, middle-aged, senior and teachers and students.

According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, the competition content at this year's tournament is very diverse from the format, competition genre to the participating age groups.

Along with that, the Organizing Committee invited 50 referees, including many national and international referees, to manage and score according to the standards of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) with a variety of criteria such as physique, technique, formation, position, creativity...

Many people from Quang Ninh and the athletes' families came to the competition venue to cheer for the contestants.

In the end, the Organizing Committee awarded titles to individuals and groups for each category along with certificates of merit to the referee team. At the end of the tournament, a number of outstanding athletes will be selected to participate in the National Dance Sports Championship in 2025.
