On October 19, the People's Committee of Da Huoai district ( Lam Dong province) said that the disease of oozing pus and yellow leaves and rotting roots of durian trees is currently developing, causing severe damage in the area with 2,465 hectares.

Of these, the average rate of trees infected with gummosis, yellow leaves and root rot is 8.7%, the highest is 50%, locally in some gardens the rate of dead trees is 2%-3%. The area of durian trees heavily infected with the rate of infected trees over 20% is 586ha, the area of moderate infection with the rate of infected trees from 10%-20% is 912ha.

The cause of the above situation is that in 2023, the weather was complicated, heavy rain lasted for many days, making the soil compact, the tree roots weakened, creating favorable conditions for fungal diseases to attack, leading to pus, yellow leaves, and root rot, causing severe damage.

The Da Huoai District authorities recommend that people promptly dig ditches and dredge ditches around their gardens to help drain the area. Da Huoai District is one of the localities with the largest durian area in Lam Dong Province with 5,874 hectares and has been recognized as the Da Huoai Durian brand.
