More than 4,500 billion VND to build the road connecting Vo Nguyen Giap - Pham Van Dong

The 2.5 km long road connecting Vo Nguyen Giap Avenue to Pham Van Dong, part of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 2, is proposed to be invested with the budget at a cost of more than VND4,500 billion.

This is one of the remaining segments of the Ring Road 2 in the city that has not been invested in yet. The Department of Transport is proposing the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to submit the project to the People's Council for approval at the upcoming meeting. The project is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2025 and be completed in two years.

Beltway 2, the section from Vo Nguyen Giap Avenue (formerly Hanoi Highway) to Pham Van Dong (Thu Duc City), is nearly 2.5 km long and is divided into two phases. The first phase will clear the entire land according to the plan with a width of 67 m, with a total cost of about 1,956 billion VND.

As for the construction, the city will first build parallel roads on both sides in the first phase, with three lanes on each side, and at the same time complete the construction of the Pham Van Dong - Linh Dong intersection with a three-story scale. The vacant land in the middle of the route will be reserved for future implementation.

The project is proposed to be invested with the budget with a total capital of about 4,543 billion VND. Compared to the previous study, this investment level has been reduced by nearly half after updating the scale and site clearance. In particular, the Department of Transport proposed to use nearly 2,000 billion VND, from the surplus capital of the Ring Road 3 project passing through the area, to invest in the above road section.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 2 was planned 16 years ago with a total length of more than 64 km, but only 50 km has been completed so far. In addition to the above section, the ring road has three other sections that have not been completed. Of which, in Thu Duc City, there are two sections: section 3 from Pham Van Dong Street to Go Dua intersection (2.7 km long), has been implemented but not completed; section 1 from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Avenue (3.5 km long) has just been approved for investment.

The remaining section (section 4) is located in the south of the city, 5.3 km long, connecting National Highway 1 through Nguyen Van Linh Street, which has not been invested in. Currently, this section is estimated to have a total investment of more than 16,000 billion VND.
