After many months of waiting, Apple Pay has been officially deployed to Vietnamese users. However, some people still do not know how to add payment cards to Apple Pay? Here are 2 ways that are considered the most convenient and simple.
With Apple Pay, users in Vietnam not only have the opportunity to experience a new payment method through some Apple products such as iPhone and Apple Watch, but also enjoy many outstanding benefits from integrating credit and debit cards into the application.
Apple Pay offers fast and secure payments, reducing the risks associated with carrying cash or traditional cards. Here are two ways to add payment cards to your Apple Pay wallet.
Method 1: Scan or enter card information manually
Scanning or manually entering card information is relatively easy to do, but will require users to know the information of the card in use, or need to have the card directly to be able to add the card to Apple Pay wallet.
Open the Apple Pay wallet app on your iPhone, iPad and tap the plus sign as shown. |
Apple has several options for adding cards, the app will first scan a view of the user's account to see which cards are available as payment methods (AppStore, iCloud...), if any, it will display all available cards, or options for the user to manually add another card. |
By default, Apple Pay will launch the camera so users can easily scan card information directly without having to enter any additional information. |
But if the card is not available, you can click on the manual card information entry. At this time, Apple Pay wallet will ask to enter the card owner's name and card number first. |
Then comes the card's expiration date and security code (3 digits on the back of the card). |
Once you have added your card information, your card is ready to use without any further action required. |
Second way: Use the bank's mobile banking application
By using the bank's mobile banking app, with just one click, the user's card will be instantly added to the Apple Pay wallet, however this method is only available to banks that have updated their mobile banking app and have the "Add card to Apple Pay wallet" feature.
Currently, some banks issuing cards supporting Apple Pay wallet at the time of launch include Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank), Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB), Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) and Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank).
We tested with the Vietcombank app first, as soon as the app is opened, users will be introduced to the Apple Pay setup feature in a snap. |
The banking app will now allow users to select the account and card they want to add to Apple Pay. After selecting "Add to Apple Pay", the Wallet app will open and ask the user which device they want to add the card to, simply select the device and the card will be added immediately to Apple Pay and ready to use. |
Similar to the VPBank NEO application of Vietnam Prosperity Bank, a pop-up advertisement and introduction about Apple Pay will be displayed the first time iPhone users open the application (new version). |
VPBank NEO even has a separate "Apple Pay" item inside the utility menu so users can find and operate it easily. |
The app also lets users choose which accounts and cards to add to their Apple Pay wallet. |
Then select the device to add the card to, in this case we have an iPhone and an Apple Watch that supports Apple Pay, you can add both if you want. |
So the card is ready for you to use in the Wallet application. It is known that currently only VPBank supports 2 more card formats: Visa and MasterCard, other banks currently only support Visa cards. |
