The goal is to create a massive and comprehensive movement in the community, mobilizing all forces to participate, to raise awareness of dengue fever prevention and control among people and the community, to minimize the number of cases and deaths caused by dengue fever, to reduce the spread of the disease, and to limit the spread of the epidemic in the locality. To increase the participation of the government and society in proactively and readily preventing and controlling dengue fever.

Extensive communication on dengue fever prevention and control in the community

Mobilize departments, branches and organizations to widely disseminate to the people the meaning of the 15th ASEAN Dengue Prevention and Control Day. Ensure that 100% of districts and cities in the province organize a wide-ranging dengue prevention and control communication campaign in the community in various forms suitable to the local situation. 100% of districts and cities in the province carry out the Mosquito Larvae Eradication Campaign; conduct general cleaning, waste collection, and rinsing of water containers to eliminate mosquito larvae with the active participation of the entire community. 100% of dengue fever risk points in the province launch the Mosquito Larvae Eradication Campaign and actively spray chemicals to prevent and control dengue fever.

Active chemical spraying to prevent dengue fever

Ensuring results after implementing the Mosquito Larvae Eradication Campaign in areas at risk of dengue fever outbreaks: Over 95% of households were visited, inspected, and instructed during the campaign; over 90% of households were mosquito larvae-free after the campaign ended; 100% of households in areas at risk of outbreaks were investigated and evaluated after implementing the Mosquito Larvae Eradication Campaign with a mosquito larvae house index (HI) < 10% and a Breteau mosquito larvae water container index (BI) ≤ 20%; dengue fever patients were examined, given emergency care, treated, and promptly referred to other facilities.

Mobilize families in epidemic areas to sign a commitment to implement measures to prevent dengue fever.

The main activities include: Organizing communication activities to prevent and control dengue fever; mobilizing the community to participate in activities to destroy mosquito larvae to prevent and control dengue fever; organizing chemical spraying to kill mosquitoes, proactively preventing and controlling dengue fever in communes, wards and towns with high-risk factors; organizing well the admission and treatment of patients; checking the implementation of the response to "ASEAN Dengue Prevention and Control Day".

Currently, it is the peak of dengue fever season, the disease is at risk of breaking out and becoming complicated if we do not proactively and actively implement preventive measures. In addition to the efforts of the health sector and authorities at all levels, to prevent the disease for themselves, their families and everyone around them, the Ministry of Health strongly recommends that people implement the following preventive measures:

Message on dengue fever prevention

Cover all water containers to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs. Weekly, take measures to kill mosquito larvae by putting fish in large water containers; washing medium and small water containers, turning over containers that do not contain water; changing the water in flower vases; adding salt or oil or larvicide chemicals to bowls of water placed under cupboards. Weekly, remove waste materials and natural water holes that do not allow mosquitoes to lay eggs such as bottles, jars, broken glass, coconut shells, broken jars, old tires, bamboo holes, leaf sheaths, etc.

Sleep under a mosquito net and wear long clothes to prevent mosquito bites even during the day. Actively cooperate with the health sector in spraying chemicals to prevent and control epidemics. When having a fever, go immediately to a medical facility for examination and treatment advice. Do not self-treat at home.
