On the evening of November 6, a section of the dike under Ba Thon 2 Bridge, located on To Ngoc Van Street, Thoi An Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, suddenly broke several meters wide during the time of high tide, combined with heavy rain caused by storms, causing water to flood into residential areas very quickly. Many households were unable to react in time, and many properties were damaged.
Immediately after the incident, authorities were urgently mobilized to work with local people to pile up cajuput piles and stack sandbags to reinforce the broken dike section. Dozens of households living near the broken dike area were rushing to move their belongings to higher ground.

Mr. Tran Van Tam, a local resident, said: "The water rose so quickly, it flooded in like a waterfall. It rained heavily this afternoon. My family is used to putting things up high, but this time the water was stronger and rose much higher than the previous times. Everyone here is racing against the water. Now we just hope that the authorities will reinforce it in time before the tide rises even higher."
Authorities are still trying their best to weld the broken dike and use high-capacity pumps to pump water out of residential areas. At the same time, people are advised not to travel through deeply flooded areas, especially the dike section under construction or repair to ensure safety.
