Tan Phuoc District: Improving the quality of environmental criteria in new rural construction

In recent times, the People's Committee of Tan Phuoc district has implemented many solutions to implement environmental criteria. The solutions not only focus on waste collection and treatment but also on building green - clean - beautiful landscapes in residential areas. Thanks to that, environmental protection work in the district has had many positive changes.

In recent times, waste collection and treatment have been implemented synchronously in Tan Phuoc district. Currently, the total amount of household waste generated in the district is 35.49 tons/day. Of which, people process at home after sorting about 16.39 tons/day (accounting for 46.18%), plastic waste is collected for recycling and reuse is 2.14 tons/day (accounting for 6.03%) and the amount of waste collected by the District Public Works Management Board and transported to Tan Lap 1 landfill is 16.96 tons/day (accounting for 47.79%).

The household waste collection system of Tan Phuoc district has been significantly improved with 12 garbage trucks (one for each commune), and 5 specialized vehicles with a load capacity of 2 tons to 4.8 tons. These vehicles ensure the transportation of garbage from households and trash bins on small roads to major roads to the landfill. At the same time, the movement of sorting waste at source is encouraged, helping to reduce pressure on landfills and raise people's awareness of waste treatment.

Up to now, the district has 122/297 flower routes with a total length of 192.55/497.25 km, reaching a rate of 38.72%. These routes not only create beauty but also help reduce dust, improve air quality, and bring fresh living space to the people.

In addition, water quality control is also emphasized. The district has implemented many programs to protect natural water sources, and at the same time requires industrial parks and production facilities to strictly implement regulations on wastewater treatment. In particular, Long Giang Industrial Park has put into operation a centralized wastewater treatment system with large capacity, contributing to minimizing negative impacts on the environment.

Along with technical measures, Tan Phuoc district also promoted propaganda activities to raise people's awareness. Environmental protection movements, green Sundays, and cleaning campaigns were widely launched and received positive responses from the community. People gradually formed the habit of not littering, sorting waste and actively participating in activities to maintain public hygiene.

Thereby, many environmental protection models have been effectively implemented in the district, such as: The model of collecting and processing straw after harvest in Phu My commune, helping to utilize straw as raw materials for production, limiting the situation of burning straw causing pollution; the model of protecting water quality and improving ponds and lakes including activities of collecting garbage, dredging water flows, and salvaging water hyacinth to protect the natural water ecosystem... In addition, the district also implements a model of livestock waste treatment with more than 1,200 livestock farms applying biogas tanks and recycling waste into fertilizer.

The effective solutions of the government and people of Tan Phuoc district are building a green - clean - beautiful rural living environment, contributing to improving the quality of environmental criteria in building new rural areas.
