What are the configuration and price of iPhone Fold?

Apple has long been rumored to be developing a foldable iPhone, or iPhone Fold, but the product's specifications and price remain a mystery.

Now, two leaks have revealed important information about the iPhone Fold that many people are still interested in. According to a report from user @Jukanlosreve on X, the iPhone Fold will have a 7.8-inch internal screen and a 5.5-inch external screen.

The iPhone Fold is expected to be powered by the Apple A20 Pro chip manufactured on TSMC's 2nm process. Other specifications include 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.

In terms of photography, the iPhone Fold is said to have a 48MP wide-angle main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle secondary camera. Notably, this device could be the first product to use an Apple-designed C2 band modem with 5G connectivity support.

The problem is that the iPhone Fold may not be cheap. Analysts at Switzerland’s UBS said Apple initially planned to price the device between $2,000 and $2,400. The company then made cost-cutting moves to bring the price down to around $1,800 to $2,000.

Apple will make a big profit from the iPhone Fold

The estimated cost of materials for the iPhone Fold is around $759, 4% less than the cost of materials for the Galaxy Z Fold SE ($790). If this information is accurate, Apple could achieve a gross profit margin of around 53-58%, similar to Samsung's profit margin on high-end foldable smartphones.

When folded, the iPhone Fold is expected to be 9-9.5mm thick, and when opened, it will be only 4.5-4.8mm thick. Analysts also confirmed that the OLED screen inside will be mainly supplied by Samsung Display, while LG Display will provide a smaller portion.

Other key components such as the titanium case and metal hinge will be supplied by Lens Technology, Amphenol and Foxconn. Foxconn is expected to be the main manufacturing partner for the iPhone Fold, alongside Luxshare as a sub-assembly partner.

The iPhone Fold is expected to launch around 2026, aiming to boost the growth of foldable devices ranging from smartphones to tablets and laptops, a trend that is expected to benefit the entire technology industry in the medium to long term.
