On December 12, TASS news agency reported that in a speech to the Iranian people, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu affirmed that his country "wants peace with all those who truly want peace with us."

Claiming that the Iranian people share this desire, Netanyahu declared: "We will realize this future together, much sooner than people think. I know and I believe that we will turn the Middle East into a beacon of prosperity, progress and peace."

Referring to the regional situation, the Israeli Prime Minister accused Iran of spending tens of billions of dollars to support the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, now ousted, as well as the armed groups Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

However, according to him, the series of attacks by this country on Iran and its allies has caused a "chain reaction", creating "historic events" that have the potential to change the entire Middle East.

Meanwhile, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who is on his seventh visit to Israel during his tenure, affirmed that the Middle Eastern country has become stronger after 14 months since the unprecedented attack by the Hamas movement, and at the same time "the balance of power in the Middle East has changed significantly".

In addition, Mr. Sullivan assessed that Iran is now weaker as forces belonging to the "resistance axis" such as Hamas and Hezbollah have suffered heavy losses in the conflict with Israel, while the allied government in Syria has collapsed.

US officials have also defended Israel's military operations in Syria since the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad's regime last weekend, saying the ally has the right to defend itself against security threats.

According to the US security adviser, the situation in Syria poses many risks "including the possibility of the country being divided". The current power vacuum could also create conditions for terrorist groups to grow or the new government in Damascus could be hostile to neighboring countries, including Israel.

Reuters news agency quoted him as saying: "Israel is trying to identify potential threats, including conventional weapons and weapons of mass destruction that could threaten it, and indeed threaten other parties as well."

Since the sudden collapse of the al-Assad family government over the weekend, Israel has deployed troops into the Syrian buffer zone on the edge of the Golan Heights and carried out hundreds of airstrikes aimed at destroying weapons and equipment belonging to its neighbor's military.
