Reviewing preparations for the 47th ASEAN Summit and summits between ASEAN and partners

On October 24th, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, within the framework of the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of Vietnam's ASEAN SOM, Dang Hoang Giang, along with Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Senior Officials from ASEAN countries, reviewed preparations for the 47th ASEAN Summit and other summits between ASEAN and its partners.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang reviewed all aspects of preparations for the 47th ASEAN Summit and ASEAN Summits with partners.

Taking place from October 26-28, these are the highlight activities of Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, with the participation of ASEAN leaders, Timor-Leste leaders, partner country leaders, guests of the ASEAN 2025 Chairman, and the United Nations Secretary-General.

With over 15 high-level sessions and activities, leaders are expected to exchange views and agree on important directions and measures to strengthen cooperation, expand linkages, effectively exploit new growth drivers, and effectively respond to emerging challenges, thereby contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world .

In particular, it is expected that at the 47th ASEAN Summit, ASEAN will officially admit Timor-Leste as its 11th member, opening a new chapter in ASEAN's development history.

Regarding documents, the Leaders are expected to sign, adopt, and acknowledge nearly 80 documents aimed at promoting ASEAN cooperation and cooperation between ASEAN and its partners in many priority areas, especially economics and trade…

Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam will continue to cooperate closely with ASEAN countries.

Highly appreciating the host country's preparations, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that he will continue to closely coordinate with ASEAN countries to ensure the conferences are successfully organized and achieve many practical results.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang exchanged views with other countries on many important issues related to the process of building the ASEAN Community, supporting Timor-Leste after its accession, expanding the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), reviewing the cooperation between ASEAN and its partners, and improving the effectiveness of ASEAN-led mechanisms.

The ASEAN Senior Officials Meetings kicked off a series of activities within the framework of the 47th ASEAN Summit and ASEAN-Partner Summits. According to the program, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the ASEAN Joint Foreign and Economic Ministers' Meeting will continue on October 25th.
