Coming to the Olimpico Stadium with a streak of 9 wins and 3 draws before, Leverkusen had the necessary confidence when facing AS Roma. Leverkusen was the more proactive team and had a chance to open the score in the 6th minute, but Florian Wirtz unfortunately missed it.
The same thing happened to AS Roma, when goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky made an excellent save from defender Roger Ibanez's header in the 19th minute.

The highlight of the match came in the 63rd minute. After striker Tammy Abraham's shot was pushed out by goalkeeper Hradecky, young player Edoardo Bove was there at the right time and scored the only goal with one touch.
Leverkusen had a chance to equalise in the 86th minute but Jeremie Frimpong's effort was blocked after a mistake by Rui Patricio. An appeal for a penalty in the same incident was rejected by English referee Michael Oliver and the 1-0 score remained until the end of the match.
Facing the experienced coach Jose Mourinho, but coach Xabi Alonso overall had a relatively successful match and if lucky, they should have at least a draw. The two teams will have a rematch in Germany next week.
In the other semi-final, Juventus hosted the most traditional team in Europa League history, Sevilla. Despite having the home advantage, the Bianconeri played very poorly and even let their opponents take the lead after En Nesyri's shot directly in front of the goal in the 26th minute.

Coach Max Allegri used his best cards in this match. Juventus attacked continuously but their attacks were easily predicted and Sevilla's defense successfully neutralized them.
Having seemingly conceded defeat at the Allianz Stadium, Juventus equalised in the 90+7 minute. Pogba provided a good pass for another player, Federico Gatti, to head home the equaliser, tying the score at 1-1, before the two teams meet again in Spain next week.
