According to Saudi Arabian media, one of the notable highlights of the 2034 World Cup is the “Sky Stadium” project, a stadium built on top of a 350-meter-high skyscraper.
The project is located in the futuristic city of NEOM, invested by one of Saudi Arabia's largest oil and gas corporations. According to the plan, "Sky Stadium" will have a capacity of about 46,000 seats, completely operated by solar and wind energy.
Construction is expected to start in 2027 and be completed by 2032, in time for the 2034 World Cup, a tournament featuring 48 national teams. If completed on schedule, this will be the tallest stadium in the world, breaking all limits of architecture and technology in sports .
Previously, Arab News revealed that Saudi Arabia is implementing a plan to build 15 new stadiums to serve the World Cup. Of which, the NEOM area is considered the center, where two iconic structures may appear. In addition to the "Sky Stadium", the country also cherishes the project to build a stadium located on a cliff, which can be reached by train or boat.
Experts say that if realized, "Sky Stadium" will become a symbol of technological power and demonstrate Saudi Arabia's ambition to develop global-class sports.
