Stage 23 of the Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup - Ton Dong A 2025 from Can Tho City to Ben Tre City with a route of 134.5km took place with not many surprises for fans and experts.

After the start, the attacks helped some riders who were less likely to compete for the overall ranking escape. This group continuously fought both physically and mentally towards the 2 sprint points along the way. As a result, Nguyen Pham Quoc Khang (Pelio Kenda Dong Nai ) won sprint 1. The victory in sprint 2 belonged to Nguyen Huynh Lan (Military Zone 7).

But in the final stage, the Vinh Long crew poured all their formations up to pull the large group to chase the leading cyclists.

They started working very early so they proactively brought the large group together in the final kilometers, then rushed to the finish line.

At the finish line, the Vinh Long riders took turns leading at high speed, putting Nicholas Kergozou (620 Vinh Long Agriculture) in a favorable position to sprint.

Thanks to that, the New Zealand foreign player easily surpassed Vietnam's leading sprinter Nguyen Van Binh (HCMC - New Group) to reach the first place, winning the stage in Ben Tre City.

This result helps Nicholas Kergozou equal the record of 10 stage wins in a Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup race set by Russian cyclist Petr Rikunov in 2024.

Nicholas Kergozou shared: "Today's stage, although on flat terrain, still had steep sections and high bridges. We endured very strong attacks. And the whole team had to try to resist so that I could have the most favorable conditions when entering the sprint and winning.

I have a great feeling about having won the 3rd consecutive stage and the 10th stage in this year's race to equal Petr Rikunov's record. This is what I and the Vinh Long team desire. There are still 2 stages left in the race and we aim to win again to break Petr Rikunov's record."

After 23 stages, Mikhail Fokin (Loc Troi Group) still retains the overall yellow jersey. Meanwhile, Nguyen Hoang Sang (Le Fruit Maxxis Dong Nai) continues to hold the overall orange jersey for the best Vietnamese racer.

On April 29, the racers will compete in stage 24 from Ben Tre City to Tay Ninh City with a route of 172km.
