Prolonged heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 12 has caused landslides in many mountainous areas of Da Nang city, causing traffic congestion and potential safety risks.
The commune authorities have mobilized maximum forces and means according to the "4 on-the-spot" motto to promptly repair and clear roads, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
In Hung Son commune, prolonged heavy rains caused hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil to slide down to the Cha Noc hamlet intersection, about 4 km from the Tay Giang - Ka Lum secondary border gate. Many large rocks fell onto the road, causing traffic to almost be paralyzed.
Faced with this situation, Hung Son commune mobilized the entire political system to deal with the landslide. The Commune Military Command mobilized an excavator, two trucks and 20 militia officers and soldiers to urgently clear the road, ensuring the safety of people and vehicles.
Commander of the Military Command of Hung Son Commune Hoi Nhai said that after overcoming the problem, the road to the Tay Giang - Ka Lum sub-border gate has basically opened to traffic in the first step.
Although weather conditions are still complicated and the amount of landslides is still large, the militia and local authorities are working continuously to clear the roads, stabilize people's travel, daily life and facilitate trade.
Hung Son Commune has placed warning signs at locations at risk of landslides.
The Commune Police force has increased propaganda and instructed people to limit movement through landslide areas to prevent the risk of landslides and rocks falling from the slope onto the road surface.
Authorities recommend that vehicles participating in traffic strictly follow the instructions of the task force when passing through landslide areas; arrange guards at these points to ensure the safety of people passing through the area.
In Tay Giang commune, the local government has mobilized forces with the motto "4 on-site", preparing vehicles and materials at high-risk landslide locations to regularly and continuously repair and ensure safety for people traveling.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Giang Commune Arat Blui emphasized that, given the complicated weather conditions and frequent landslides in the area, the commune requested relevant units and forces to continue ensuring people's safety and proactively handle any arising situations.
The Commune Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue regularly checks areas at high risk of landslides and arranges forces to be on duty 24/7 to respond promptly.
The Economic Department and the construction unit prepare full machinery, vehicles, and materials ready to level and clear landslides when they occur, ensuring safe and smooth traffic.
The Commune Police and the militia coordinated to set up checkpoints, put up warning signs, and instruct people not to go through dangerous areas. Villages and residential groups increased propaganda and mobilized people to raise awareness of prevention during the rainy and stormy season.
Mr. Arat Blúi added that the commune also proposed that the city's functional agencies soon support surveys and investments in anti-erosion embankment projects and construction of stepped slopes in areas with large slopes, to ensure safety for people and long-term stability of life./.
