In recent years, many localities of Son La have known how to take advantage of climate, soil and natural landscape to strongly develop agricultural tourism models to bring real experiences to tourists, promote agricultural products and increase income for people.

During a trip to Son La in early November, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Linh (in Son Dong commune, Hanoi) visited Ly orange garden in Moc Chau farm town.

The woman was able to visit the orange garden, learn about the process of growing oranges with convex navels, and take beautiful photos. Especially, when leaving, Ms. Linh was also able to personally choose fresh, juicy oranges as gifts for her family.

The orange garden that Ms. Linh visited belongs to Mr. Ha Van Chien's family. The garden is 4,000 square meters wide with over 350 orange trees, yielding about 15-20 tons per year. In recent years, realizing that tourists love the agricultural tourism model, Mr. Chien has opened the orange garden to welcome visitors.

The number of visitors increases every year, on average on weekends, the orange garden welcomes 200-300 visitors with a ticket price of 40,000 VND/person. The orange variety bred by Mr. Chien is therefore known by many people and is easier to consume. Many gardens in Son La or neighboring localities have asked to buy the variety to plant both to harvest fruit and develop tourism.

These days, Mr. Nguyen Duy Thanh, owner of a rose garden in Pa Khen sub-district, Moc Chau farm town, is also busy welcoming tourists. Mr. Thanh owns a rose garden with more than 150 rose trees that are 25 years old.

If in previous years, the man mainly sold persimmons, then in the past 3-4 years, since the persimmons started to turn yellow, he opened the garden to welcome guests to take pictures.

Entrance fees range from 10,000 VND to 30,000 VND per person. To help guests have the most beautiful photos, Mr. Thanh also prepares accessories such as umbrellas, tables, chairs, swings...

Many rose gardens in Pa Khen and Na Ka areas also offer overnight camping services so that visitors can enjoy moments immersed in nature with relatives and friends.

According to Mr. Thanh, Moc Chau persimmons are mainly pickled persimmons. In addition to taking pictures, visitors can enjoy ripe persimmons that have been pickled by the garden owner. Many people can also pick persimmons themselves to bring home as gifts for relatives and friends. The price of persimmons will be calculated separately according to the market price from 35,000 to 50,000 VND/kg.

In Chieng Mung commune, some farms offer a program to experience the closed coffee processing process. Visitors will learn how to plant, care for, harvest, produce finished coffee products, and the brewing process and enjoy Son La Arabica coffee.

According to Mr. Quang Kien, a content creator for tourism in Moc Chau, gardeners in Moc Chau National Tourist Area and communes in Mai Son area pay great attention to combining tourism with agriculture, developing circular agriculture. This brings benefits to the people, and at the same time brings new and attractive experiences to tourists.

According to Mr. Tran Xuan Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La, Moc Chau National Tourist Area has a scale of 206,150 hectares (including the administrative boundaries of the two old districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho). This place has diverse, rich and attractive tourism resources in terms of both natural tourism resources and cultural tourism resources, beautiful and majestic natural landscapes.

In recent years, Son La has identified agricultural economic development associated with tourism and services as one of the local strengths. This model helps farmers convert from traditional agriculture to agriculture combined with tourism.

Taking advantage of the flat hillsides and valleys, people in Moc Chau and Van Ho have built many dairy farms, apricot gardens, plum gardens, rapeseed flower fields, buckwheat flower fields, tea gardens, plum gardens, etc.

To promote and introduce agricultural products in the area, Son La regularly organizes events and festivals associated with agricultural products such as: Plum picking festival, international marathon through plum valleys, orchards, tea hills... Tourists coming to Moc Chau can immerse themselves in the life of farmers, pick fruits by themselves, experience production stages, enjoy fresh agricultural products right in the garden...

Agricultural tourism has gradually developed strongly, contributing to protecting the landscape and environment, diversifying service types, while increasing people's income and promoting local socio-economy.

Not only that, thanks to its unique tourism activities, Moc Chau National Tourist Area was voted "World's Leading Regional Natural Destination" by the World Tourism Awards for two consecutive years (2022-2023).
