On the morning of March 19 (February 10, Giap Thin year), the opening ceremony of Huong Cat communal house festival, Duy Hai ward, Duy Tien town was solemnly held with the participation of many local people from all walks of life.
Huong Cat Communal House Festival is held annually on the 10th day of the 2nd lunar month to commemorate the death of Ly Linh Lang - a talented general who helped King Ly Thai Tong defeat the Champa invaders and keep the country peaceful. According to legend, Ly Linh Lang was a human god, was awarded the title Linh Lang Dai Vuong, had a handsome appearance, and lived with his mother Hao Nuong in Thi Trai area ( Hanoi ). At the age of 14, Linh Lang diligently practiced martial arts with the young men in the area, becoming a man of both literature and martial arts, and was greatly loved by King Ly Thai Tong.
In 1069, Linh Lang followed Ly Thanh Tong to march towards the South Sea and defeated Vinh Trinh's army. After that, he continued to fight as the commander of the navy, together with Ly Thuong Kiet, causing the Song army to suffer many casualties on the Nhu Nguyet River, forcing them to sue for peace and withdraw their troops. From then on, Ly Linh Lang was declared by the king to be the supreme and most sacred Linh Lang Dai Vuong and ordered all the places Linh Lang had passed to build temples to commemorate his achievements.
In Huong Cat village, now Huong Cat residential group, Duy Hai ward, Duy Tien town, Ly Linh Lang when coming here helped people grow mulberry, raise silkworms and grow wet rice. Remembering his merits, Huong Cat villagers have built a temple to worship him and organize annual rituals and village festivals, reminding generations of people to follow Ly Linh Lang's example of loving the country and people.
In particular, in this year's festival, the people of Huong Cat residential group jointly organized the inauguration of a communal house with an area of 279m2 including a grand ceremony house, 2 cannon houses and 250m2 of a yard with beautiful landscapes embellished by voluntary funds from the people, Huong Cat children living and working in all parts of the country, organizations and businesses in the commune.
