Opening of the 2025 National Rowing Championship for Outstanding Rowers

VHO - Taking place for the first time in Da Nang, the 2025 National Sea Rowing Championship for Excellent Rowers has officially kicked off, gathering more than 70 athletes from 8 provinces and cities across the country.

On the morning of November 30, at Thanh Khe beach (Nguyen Tat Thanh street, Thanh Khe ward), the Vietnam Rowing Federation coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang city to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Sea Rowing Championship for excellent rowers.

This is the first time the tournament has been held in Da Nang, marking an important development step for domestic sea rowing, while also catching up with the trend of sea sports that are popular in the world.

The event also contributes to promoting the movement of practicing and competing in Sea Rowing in localities.

This year's tournament gathered more than 70 athletes from 8 units including Ca Mau, Dak Lak, Ha Tinh, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen and Da Nang.

Athletes compete in 15 events for men, women and mixed, in three age groups: U19, U23 and open.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee will award Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals to the athletes with the highest achievements; and at the same time, award the team flag to the three units leading the medal rankings.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City Nguyen Trong Thao: "Through this tournament, we hope to attract more localities to invest in and develop Sea Rowing in particular and sea sports in general."

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang Nguyen Trong Thao said that the city has a beautiful coastline, favorable natural conditions and an increasingly synchronized sports infrastructure system. This is the reason why Da Nang has been continuously chosen as the venue for many national-level boat racing competitions in recent times.

Mr. Thao emphasized that hosting the 2025 National Sea Rowing Championship for Excellent Rowers not only affirms the prestige and organizational capacity of Da Nang, but also opens up opportunities for the city to become a leading destination for new sea sports.

The organizers presented souvenir flags to the teams participating in the tournament.

“Through the tournament, we hope to attract more localities to invest in and develop Sea Rowing as well as other sea sports; at the same time, promote the image of a dynamic, modern and experience-rich Da Nang to the people and tourists,” said Mr. Thao.

The tournament will take place until December 2, depending on weather conditions, with exciting matches, expected to bring attractive competitions and high professional quality.
