The thematic exhibition “ Central Highlands Gong Culture - Past and Present; Celebrating 50 years of the journey and development of Tra Vinh province (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)” took place from April 24 to April 25, at the Khmer Ethnic Culture Museum of Tra Vinh province.
The theme “ Central Highlands Gong Culture - Past and Present” will introduce more than 100 documents, artifacts, and images of Central Highlands gong music, including 2 main spaces. In particular, the ancient Central Highlands gong music space will introduce to visitors precious images and documents reflecting the important role of gongs in the rituals of the Central Highlands people, the sacred moments where gong music ignites the spiritual strength of the whole community.

With the space of gong music in today's life, visitors will feel the spread of gong music into the contemporary life of the Central Highlands people, from the rituals of worshiping the water wharf, worshiping new rice, worshiping health, wedding ceremonies, grave-leaving ceremonies... Traditional musical instruments such as: Ding nam, Dinh tak ta, bro along with vivid images from festivals will make visitors feel the strong vitality of this heritage in contemporary life, where gong music is maintained in traditional ceremonies and connects cultural values between generations and communities.

The theme "Celebrating 50 years of Tra Vinh province's development (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)" will display 74 images and documents introducing the outstanding economic, cultural and social achievements that the Party Committee and the people of Tra Vinh have jointly built and developed since the liberation until now, such as: Tra Vinh province's achievements; Tra Vinh province's activities after the liberation (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); economic, cultural, social and national security achievements.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Thach Boi delivered the opening speech at the ceremony.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Thach Boi said: The intangible cultural heritage of gongs in the Central Highlands was officially recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of intangible and oral culture of humanity on November 25, 2005. This is the pride not only of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands but also of the entire Vietnamese nation. The culture of gongs in the Central Highlands has been included in epic poems that are both romantic and majestic, affirming the value of existence in the Central Highlands for thousands of years.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Thach Boi presented the symbol to Mr. Dinh Mot, Director of Dak Lak Provincial Museum.
Deputy Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized: This is an opportunity to feel the sounds of the Central Highlands gongs, contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional values of the gong music treasure. Thereby, propagating to the people, students in Tra Vinh province the outstanding economic, cultural and social achievements that the Party Committee and the people of Tra Vinh have jointly built and developed Tra Vinh province since its liberation until now.
