Imagine walking into a clinic where your doctor isn't a human. Instead, it's an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) ready to listen to your symptoms and suggest treatments.

All with a real doctor double-checking everything behind the scenes. That’s exactly what’s happening in Saudi Arabia, where Synyi AI, a Tencent-backed startup from Shanghai, just opened the world’s first AI medical clinic .

World's First AI-Powered Clinic Opens in Saudi Arabia Launched in partnership with Almoosa Medical Group, located in the eastern Al-Ahsa region of Saudi Arabia.

The clinic has “Doctor Hua,” an AI system that automatically diagnoses and prescribes treatment for patients, while a doctor reviews the plan to ensure accuracy.

Patients interact with Dr. Hua by describing their symptoms on a tablet. The AI follows up with targeted questions, analyzes medical data and images—like EKGs and X-rays—collected by the human assistant, and then recommends a treatment plan.

Human doctors remain on hand to provide emergency care and sign off on final approvals, but do not directly examine patients during routine visits.

Synyi AI calls this model an "innovative medical service" system, where AI completes the entire medical chain from admission, diagnosis to prescription, while humans act as "safety gatekeepers".

Dr Hua is currently designed to support the examination and treatment of respiratory diseases - the most common group of diseases in clinics, including: sore throat, bronchitis, asthma... with a total of more than 30 diseases.

Synyi AI's next goal is to expand the system's capabilities, adding more diseases in the digestive and dermatological groups, bringing the total number of diseases to about 50 in the near future.

Data from the trial will be sent to Saudi Arabia's health authorities for evaluation.

Synyi AI hopes to be licensed for widespread deployment within 18 months if results continue to be positive. Previously, in the internal testing phase, AI achieved an error rate of only 0.3%, a very impressive number for medical technology.
