According to the national environmental monitoring system and hydrometeorological forecast, in the next 10 days, the northern region, especially Hanoi and surrounding areas, may experience temperature inversion, windless conditions and fog, causing PM2.5 fine dust to accumulate, with the risk of the AQI index exceeding 150 - directly affecting public health and socio- economic activities.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requires localities to focus on implementing a number of urgent tasks:
Increase street cleaning and dust reduction: Increase the frequency of sweeping, vacuuming, and spraying water on main traffic routes, prioritizing nighttime and early morning cleaning to reduce dust before rush hour.
Control construction and traffic activities that cause dust emissions: Require covering and cleaning of material transport vehicles; strictly handle material transport vehicles that cause spillage; temporarily stop construction works that do not comply with environmental regulations.
Review industrial facilities and craft villages with large emissions: Check exhaust gas treatment systems, encourage capacity reduction on days when air quality is at or above bad levels.
Strictly control the burning of straw, agricultural by-products and waste: Assign police forces at commune and ward levels to patrol and strictly handle illegal outdoor burning.
Strengthen public health warnings: Update the VN_AQI air quality index, recommend people, especially sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory diseases, to limit outdoor activities and wear masks when going out.
Application of monitoring technology: The Ministry will use UAVs and satellite images to detect large emission points, send information to localities for processing; organize interdisciplinary working groups if necessary.
Relevant provinces and cities are required to report weekly implementation results to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for synthesis according to the direction in Official Dispatch No. 10260/VPCP-NN dated October 23, 2025 of the Government Office.
