BHG - Developing industry in a sustainable direction, green growth, saving resources and energy is identified as one of the important premises to promote the sustainable development of the province. Therefore, our province has synchronously deployed many solutions to restructure industrial production; develop industries with strengths associated with improving productivity, quality, efficiency, ensuring that industry is an important pillar for development.

In order to develop sustainable industry, our province has issued many important policies related to: Industrial development in the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; developing the province's commercial infrastructure to 2025, with a vision to 2030. Well implementing the work of making annual and 5-year plans, key development programs, and specific projects to implement planning work, arranging resources to implement planning; promoting administrative procedure reform in the direction of being quick, having fewer focal points, shortening time associated with improving the quality of public service of the staff, civil servants, and public employees in the direction of taking people and businesses as the center of service; increasing contact and dialogue between leaders of Party committees and authorities with businesses to accompany and solve difficulties and problems of businesses in the spirit of: "Businesses prosper - Ha Giang develops".

Through exploiting the province's potential and strengths, the energy sector; mineral exploitation and processing and agricultural and forestry processing have become important "supports" in industrial production activities. Currently, the province has 40 hydropower plants generating electricity into the national grid with a total installed capacity of 752.5 MW (an increase of 6 plants with a total capacity of 90 MW compared to 2020). According to the assessment of professional agencies: Hydropower plants are basically operating stably, meeting the requirements of the provincial and national power systems; power grid projects are invested and built according to planning, operate effectively and have the ability to connect the region, ensuring safe power supply. On average, hydropower plants contribute an annual output of over 3,300 million kWh, generating revenue of over 3,500 billion VND.

In the field of mineral exploitation and processing, there are currently 26 valid licenses for metal mineral exploitation, of which: the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued 8 licenses, the Provincial People's Committee issued 18 licenses. Mineral processing and use have complied with the planning; the scale of processing technology is suitable for the characteristics of each type of mineral; advanced technology is applied to maximize the rate of mineral recovery, achieving the set technical indicators. In particular, the province has paid attention to the deep processing of minerals, creating conditions for enterprises to implement, ensuring the motto of mineral resources being used reasonably, economically, effectively, meeting the needs of local socio-economic development. Currently, deep processing of minerals focuses on 4 main types: iron, manganese, lead, zinc, and antimony. Notably, the Ferro Manganese Smelting Plant of Ha Giang Iron Alloy Joint Stock Company has been operating stably with a capacity of 10,000 tons/year, using electric arc furnace technology. Meanwhile, the Antimony Metal Smelting Plant of Ha Giang Mechanical and Mineral Joint Stock Company operates with a capacity of 1,000 tons/year, refining Antimony with a content of up to 99.96%, meeting export standards.

Particularly, the province's agricultural and forestry processing industry has gradually shifted from small-scale, traditional to commodity production. Currently, the whole province has nearly 260 tea processing facilities with a total capacity of over 14,000 tons of products/year; of which, industrial-scale factories reach more than 8,000 tons of products/year. Many units focus on investing in production technology lines, modern equipment, and large capacity to create high-quality tea products, meeting export requirements. Typical products include black tea, green tea, yellow tea, Pu'er tea... of Hung Cuong Trading Company Limited, Hung An Tea Joint Stock Company, Cao Bo Organic Tea Joint Stock Company, Phin Ho Tea Processing Cooperative. In addition, the province also has 190 wood and wood product processing facilities, most concentrated in Bac Quang, Quang Binh and Vi Xuyen districts with main products such as: Plywood, finger jointed boards, wood pellets, peeled wood, paper... Many factories invest in modern, synchronous technology and operate effectively such as: Plywood factory with a capacity of 50,000 m3 of products/year in Binh Vang Industrial Park (Vi Xuyen); High-tech plywood factory for export, capacity of 15,000 m3/year in Nam Quang Industrial Cluster (Bac Quang)... Notably, in the province's orange production area, there are 3 processing facilities, including: Industrial-scale fruit juice processing factory of Bao Chau Pharmaceutical Group Joint Stock Company (Vi Xuyen) with a capacity of 190,000 liters/year and 2 small-scale orange processing facilities in Bac Quang district, namely Ta Orange Joint Stock Company (Dong Thanh commune) with a capacity of 2 tons/day and Phu Vinh Cooperative (Hung An commune) with a capacity of 5 tons of oranges/day.

According to the synthesis of specialized agencies: In the period of 2021 - 2023, the province's industrial production index increased by an average of 12.85%/year. The industrial production value in 2023 (current price) is estimated at 9,200 billion VND, an increase of 6.3% compared to 2022 and 53% compared to 2020. Currently, our province continues to restructure the industrial sector towards green and sustainable development, increasing the proportion of processing industry, reducing the proportion of mining industry, focusing on deep processing industry of minerals, materials, supporting industries...
