Inauguration of the project of the Memorial Area of the Annam Communist Party Cell in Dong Thap

At the ceremony, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang said that in October 1929, in the context of the seething revolutionary movement in the South, comrade Pham Huu Lau - an outstanding son of Hoa An - Cao Lanh hometown was admitted to the Party, becoming the nucleus leading the revolutionary movement in the locality. This event contributed significantly to the Hoa An Youth Revolutionary Association being recognized as the first An Nam Communist Party cell in the province, fanning the flame of patriotism and promoting the local revolutionary movement.

To mark this historical milestone, in 1995, Dong Thap province built a memorial stele in Mu U garden, Hoa An village, where the first party cell was born. In 2001, this place was recognized as a revolutionary historical relic. The project was invested and renovated to become a solemn and large-scale memorial site, bearing the architectural features of the heroic land of Cao Lanh.

Mr. Tran Tri Quang said that the inauguration of the An Nam Communist Party Cell Memorial Site is not simply the completion of a physical architectural work but also a symbol of the longevity of the steadfast belief in the Party's leadership, affirming the determination of cadres and Party members in continuing, maintaining political mettle, and enhancing the Party's fighting strength in the new situation.

According to the Project Management Board of Construction Investment Area 1 (investor), after nearly 6 months of construction, the project of the Annam Communist Party Cell Memorial Site has been completed on schedule and officially put into use. The project is built on an area of over 5 hectares with a total investment of 145 billion VND, including the main items: Annam Communist Party Memorial House, Cao Lanh Traditional House, symbol of peace ; system of roads, trees, lighting and auxiliary items.

The project is equipped with a display space that combines tradition and modernity, recreating the process of formation, struggle, protection and development of Cao Lanh land, from the time of land reclamation and settlement, through two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism to the journey of building and developing the homeland after 1975. The memorial area of the An Nam Communist Party Cell is a place to remember and pay tribute to revolutionary predecessors; a "red address" for cadres, party members, students and people to visit, learn, study, and foster patriotism, revolutionary will and aspiration to build the homeland.

According to the History of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee (period 1927 - 1954), the Annam Communist Party Cell was established in 1929, the first Communist Party Cell in Dong Thap Province. The Cell had 6 Party members, with comrade Pham Huu Lau as Secretary. After the first Party Cell of Dong Thap was established in Hoa An, Party Cells were established in other localities in the province such as Lap Vo Cell, Phong Hoa Cell, Long Thuan Cell... During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, under the leadership of the Party, the army and people of Dong Thap achieved many feats, contributing to the complete liberation of the South and the unification of the country.

To celebrate the 1st Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030 and the 14th National Congress of the Party, Dong Thap is implementing many projects. Along with the inauguration of the Memorial Site of the An Nam Communist Party Cell, the province also started the 2nd phase of the Traffic Road project on both sides of the Bao Dinh River; speeding up the construction progress of the project to restore, embellish and promote the value of the Nguyen Sinh Sac Relic Site; and the project to build works to serve cultural institutions for Dong Thap province's youth.
