Launching the search for "Vietnamese Ambassadors" abroad in 2025

(Dan Tri) - On March 29, in Hanoi, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the Launching Ceremony of the Vietnamese Language Honor Day and the Contest to Find Vietnamese Language Ambassadors Abroad in 2025.

The program was chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, with the participation of representatives of domestic ministries, departments and branches, language and cultural experts, overseas Vietnamese and a large number of press reporters.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized the importance of preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language, affirming that Vietnamese is not only a means of communication but also the soul of the nation, the crystallization of Vietnamese cultural identity through thousands of years of history. This is the thread connecting the Vietnamese community abroad with the national origin.

The Deputy Minister also reviewed the results achieved after 2 years of implementing the Project on Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the overseas Vietnamese community. In recent times, response activities have taken place enthusiastically in many diverse forms, with the active participation of domestic and local agencies and a large number of overseas Vietnamese around the world.

With the spirit of "Preserving the Vietnamese language, preserving the Vietnamese soul", the Deputy Minister called on the overseas Vietnamese community, organizations and individuals to join hands to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language. Using Vietnamese not only in the family but also in the learning, working and international exchange environment will contribute to preserving the national cultural identity.

Representing overseas Vietnamese, Ms. Tran Hong Van, Vietnamese Language Ambassador 2023, shared that helping overseas Vietnamese children speak Vietnamese, love Vietnamese culture and help them connect with their national roots will help them build a solid foundation to shine anywhere in the world. She also emphasized that maintaining the language and culture for the young generation of Vietnamese in Australia and other countries around the world requires the efforts of all parties involved.

At the Ceremony, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Manh Dong officially announced the Contest "Searching for Vietnamese Ambassadors Abroad in 2025".

This is a meaningful playground to seek and honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to preserving and promoting the Vietnamese language globally. Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Dong called on overseas Vietnamese to actively respond and participate in the Contest.

In addition, the Ceremony also announced a number of activities in response to Vietnamese Language Honor Day to spread love for the mother tongue and encourage overseas Vietnamese to preserve and promote the national linguistic identity.

Specifically, the Foreign Television Department, Vietnam Television (VTV4) introduced the programs "Vietnamese is not difficult", "Enjoying Vietnamese". The Vietnam Studies Center and Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School (Japan) launched the contest "Vietnamese speaking contest, drawing, learning about the homeland of Vietnam" and launched the Vietnamese Bookshelf built by the community.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, Mr. Bui Hoai Son, National Assembly delegate, full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Head of the Ethnic, Religious and Overseas Vietnamese Committee, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mr. Nguyen Phu Binh, Chairman of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien, Deputy Head of the Foreign Television Department, Vietnam Television, Ms. Phung Ngoc Hong, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Education Publishing House, pressed the button to launch the program "Wonderful Vietnamese Language" jointly produced by VTV4 and Vietnam Education Publishing House.

The launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Language Honor Day and the contest to find Vietnamese Ambassadors abroad in 2025 strongly affirmed the determination to preserve and spread the Vietnamese language in the Vietnamese community around the world. With the joint efforts of agencies, organizations and overseas Vietnamese, the Vietnamese language will certainly continue to be preserved and developed sustainably, becoming the common pride of the Vietnamese people.
