Thailand competes with many strong teams at King's Cup 2023.

The organizing committee of the King's Cup 2023 has recently officially announced the teams that will participate in this year's tournament. Accordingly, the three guest teams this time include Iraq (ranked 67th in the world ), Lebanon (ranked 99th) and India (ranked 101st).

These are all teams with higher FIFA rankings than Thailand (114). Therefore, if they get good results in this tournament, the Golden Temple team will significantly improve their position on the FIFA rankings.

Thai media assessed that the King's Cup 2023 will help coach Mano Polking and his team gain more experience against "strange" opponents before entering the 2026 World Cup and 2024 Asian Cup qualifiers. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Chiang Mai (Thailand) next September.

King's Cup is a traditional tournament first held in Thailand in 1968. After 48 times of organization, this year's tournament will take place from September 7 to 10 in the Land of Golden Temples.

In the two most recent editions in 2019 and 2022, Thailand invited Southeast Asian countries Vietnam and Malaysia and both lost to their two regional rivals, leaving fans extremely disappointed.

In 2019, goalkeeper Kawin's unbelievable mistake caused Thailand to lose 0-1 to Vietnam and miss the chance to play in the final against Curacao. In 2022, the War Elephants fell in a penalty shootout against Malaysia.
