On the afternoon of May 10, at the Peony&Iris art space, 197-199 Ton Duc Thang Street, Dong Da District ( Hanoi ), the second solo exhibition titled "Fertility Space" by female sculptor Luu Thanh Lan officially opened, marking an important milestone in her artistic journey.
Previously, in 2022, she held her first solo exhibition titled “Spring Dream”, displaying more than 100 works at the Exhibition House 16 Ngo Quyen, Hanoi. In 2024, the artist also launched the book “Sculpture of Luu Thanh Lan”, a collection of 200 artworks, as a narrative about her relentless creative journey.
After 3 years of tireless research and exploration , the artist brings to her second exhibition works rich in narrative and contemporary life. Each work is a distillation, expressing emotions through her unique sculptural language.
The exhibition “Fertility Space” introduces to the art-loving public nearly 100 works and works including reliefs and round statues. In particular, the reliefs are made from bronze-hammered metal, aluminum-hammered metal, ceramics, ceramic plates, while the round statues include bronze, wood and ceramics. These are the latest works created by the female artist from 2023 to present, carefully selected and displayed as a gift of gratitude to teachers, friends and art lovers.
The image of Vietnamese women with a "wasp waist" is always attractive and occupies the mind of Luu Thanh Lan. She longs to express that beauty not only in daily life, but also in love, motherhood and happy family moments. The theme of a mother with the idea of strength to protect the family, boundless love for her children is a consistent theme, the image of a mother can be seen in many of her works: "Mother's love", "Love story", "Motherhood", "Mother's spring", "Warm home", "Happiness", "Small steps into life", "Childhood", "You are spring"...
Bronze is her favorite material because of its durability and soft shine, which is very suitable for works about women. Therefore, the bronze material flows in the female sculptor's works like fish in water, bustling in each block, flexible in each detail, which can be seen in the works: "Lullaby of Spring", "Summer", "Symphony", "Chorus", "Flower Shape", "Garden House"...
With over 30 years of dedication to art, in a harsh field that few female artists pursue, Luu Thanh Lan has affirmed her solid position thanks to her talent, perseverance and passion. Luu Thanh Lan is not only an artist who tells stories through shapes, but also a symbol of determination and deep love for art.
