On the morning of May 25, Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam My commune (Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province) said that heavy rain lasting from the evening of May 24 to the morning of May 25, combined with water from upstream streams pouring down quickly and strongly, and the downstream water not being able to drain in time, caused many inter-village and inter-commune roads and residential areas in the locality to be flooded and isolated.

Flash floods quickly flooded many villages in Cam My commune, including 4 villages near the mountain: My Phu, My Dong, My Lam, My Ha, with about 450 households having water entering their houses from 0.5m to more than 1m.
The road leading to the tourist area at Ke Go Lake (My Ha village) suffered a landslide on the cliff, dozens of cubic meters of soil, rocks, and trees fell onto the road, causing traffic jams, making it impossible for vehicles and people to pass.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, the flash floods came so quickly that many households in the area did not have time to react. Many households were completely flooded. People who had just harvested spring rice did not have time to raise their property so it was flooded and wet, many chickens, ducks, and pigs were swept away by the water; many electronic devices and household appliances were flooded; and there was heavy property damage.
During the night, local authorities are mobilizing local forces to promptly deploy support for some households to evacuate to safety.

Mr. Vo Ta Ky, Chairman of Cam Due Commune People's Committee (Cam Xuyen District) said that the flood from upstream poured in very quickly during the night, causing many villages in the area to be affected by flooding and damage. Tan Due and Quang Trung villages were the most deeply flooded, with about 130 households in water about 30-50cm deep. Many inter-village and inter-commune roads in the area were flooded and cut off, with some places being flooded more than 1m deep.

The flooding caused major damage to rice, crops, chickens, ducks and some property. That very night, the local government mobilized forces and shock troops from the villages to evacuate the elderly and children; at the same time, they helped people raise their property to avoid damage.
In addition to the communes of Cam My and Cam Due, located near Ke Go Lake, which were deeply flooded and isolated, many communes in Cam Xuyen district, such as Cam Quan, Cam Thinh, Cam Thach, Cam Thanh... were also flooded and partially isolated.
