Can Tho International Airport has just sent a document requesting the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to approve not performing the task of being a reserve airport during the time of inspection, assessment and establishment of maintenance procedures for runways and taxiways at Can Tho International Airport.
After consideration and research, on November 15, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued a document approving Can Tho International Airport not to serve as a backup airport for airlines from 9:00 p.m. the previous day to 4:00 a.m. the following day from November 16, 2024 to December 14, 2024 (local time) to carry out inspection, assessment and establish maintenance procedures for the airport's runways and taxiways.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to carry out procedures to notify related aviation information.
Southern Airports Authority monitors, inspects and supervises compliance with procedures and regulations on security, safety, fire prevention and environmental sanitation throughout the construction period to ensure safety for flight operations.
Can Tho International Airport is designed with a capacity of 3.5 million to 5 million passengers per year, and is the key international airport in the Mekong Delta. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the city designed to connect this airport with 6 international routes and 39 domestic routes, but after the pandemic, due to some difficulties, it only operates two international routes with South Korea and Malaysia.
It is known that with the reopening of the Can Tho - Da Lat route from this November, Can Tho International Airport now has 8 domestic routes: to Phu Quoc (Kien Giang), Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong, Con Dao and Quang Ninh operated by Vietnam Airlines , Vietjet Air and VASCO./.
