Distorted arguments about the position and role of the Party
In the strategy of “Peaceful Evolution”, hostile and reactionary forces seek every way to deny and reject the leadership and ruling role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and consider this a breakthrough, the shortest and most effective way to erase the achievements of the revolution, erase the path of building socialism in Vietnam, and steer Vietnam’s development along the capitalist trajectory. These subjects distort and deny the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam, demanding that our Party retreat and implement “pluralism and multi-party system”; claiming that our Party’s taking Marxism-Leninism as its ideological foundation is outdated and backward; thereby causing skepticism, wavering, and reducing people’s confidence, especially confidence in the leadership and ruling role of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. These are extremely erroneous and unscientific views and arguments, without basis in both theory and practice, containing many contradictions in analysis and evaluation; many comments are subjective and baseless.
On many foreign press channels, websites of exiled reactionary organizations and personal websites of opposing subjects, it is also said that the Party's combination of the goal of national independence and socialism is metaphysical, contrary to the laws and development trends of the world. There are also opinions that give ambiguous arguments that the content of protecting national and ethnic interests as determined by the Communist Party of Vietnam is vague and difficult to achieve because protecting the Fatherland is only protecting the territorial integrity and national sovereignty, not protecting a political party or regime! There are opinions that "the one-party leadership regime of the Communist Party of Vietnam makes Vietnam still a poor and backward country"! Subjects continue to cite the collapse of the Soviet Union and socialist countries in Eastern Europe to justify their views...
Not stopping at distorting and denying the ideological foundation and theoretical basis of the Party's leadership and ruling role, hostile and reactionary forces also try to take advantage of the negative aspects arising in social life, especially corruption, to confuse public opinion and distort the nature of the regime; considering those negative aspects to be caused by the Party's leadership. More dangerously, these subjects put forward the argument that "corruption is an inevitable consequence of the one-party regime"; "the prevention and fight against corruption is essentially internal fighting within the Party"... From there, these forces loudly call for regime change and the implementation of "pluralism and multi-party system"!
These subjects distort and deny the ideological foundation and theoretical basis of the leadership and ruling role of the Communist Party of Vietnam. They try to propagate the argument that "Marxism-Leninism is outdated"; "Marxism-Leninism is a hollow theory of utopian socialism, which does not exist"... This is an extremely dangerous argument because it deliberately equates the issue of pluralism and multi-party system with democracy and development. Their purpose is to deny the leadership and ruling role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the history of the nation, using it as an excuse to promote the intention of building and forming opposition political parties and sabotage from within.
History records that before the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, our people were oppressed under the domination of French colonialism. The patriotic movements in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, although rising strongly and following many different ideological trends and paths, were all unsuccessful due to the lack of a correct path to save the country and an advanced scientific doctrine to guide the way. On February 3, 1930, the Communist Party of Vietnam was born as a result of the movement and mature development of objective conditions and the careful and effective preparation of subjective factors. Organized,educated and trained by President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Vietnam has become the only ruling Communist Party, leading the Vietnamese revolution, recognized, trusted, loved, respected, entrusted and strived to build and protect by the people.
The role of the Communist Party of Vietnam is affirmed in the flow of national history.
In the thousands of years of history of the nation since its inception until now, it is the history of building and defending the country. Building the country is always closely linked to defending the country, in which building the country is the fundamental factor. We must build a strong country in all aspects to have the conditions and ability to defeat hostile forces and must defend the country to have the conditions to build the country. It is thanks to inheriting and promoting the tradition of patriotism on the basis of absorbing and creatively applying the quintessence of Eastern and Western philosophy and culture that Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh left to find a way to save the country (1911) and came to Marxism - Leninism (1920). The correct path to save the country has been determined, which is the path of national independence associated with socialism.
The birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam was the combination of Marxism-Leninism with the workers' movement and the movement for national liberation and class liberation. From the very beginning, the Communist Party of Vietnam soon took on the great historical mission assigned by the class and the nation: Leading all classes of the Vietnamese people to fight against colonialism and feudalism, to gain national independence and democracy for the people. Since its appearance on the political stage, the Communist Party of Vietnam has shown itself to be the most genuine revolutionary party, with the greatest convergence of all the strengths of the nation and class, soon becoming the vanguard of the class and the nation in the struggle against imperialism and feudalism. It can be said that the historical mission of the Communist Party of Vietnam was determined by the times, by the class and the nation. Every victory of the Vietnamese revolution is closely linked to the role of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh - the organizer and leader of all victories of the Vietnamese revolution. Faced with historical tasks, the Party and Uncle Ho promptly and correctly determined and creatively developed guidelines, strategies and tactics to lead the revolution from one victory to another.
After 33 years of implementing the Platform for National Construction in the Transitional Period to Socialism (1991 Platform) and 38 years of implementing the renovation policy initiated and led by our Party, with the efforts of the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army, our country has achieved great and historic achievements. The 13th National Party Congress (February 2021) assessed: "Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today". The country has emerged from the socio-economic crisis and underdevelopment, becoming a middle-income developing country, promoting industrialization, modernization and international integration.
After nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation, Vietnam has achieved great and historic achievements, becoming a country playing an important role in the socio-economic development of the Southeast Asian region. The GDP scale has increased more than 100 times, from 4 billion USD to 406 billion USD (in 2022). According to the General Statistics Office, the country's GDP in 2023 is estimated to increase by 5.05% over the previous year, bringing the economic scale at current prices to an estimated VND 10,221.8 trillion, equivalent to USD 430 billion; GDP per capita is estimated at VND 101.9 million/person, equivalent to USD 4,284, an increase of USD 160 compared to 2022. Thus, by the end of 2023, Vietnam's average income per capita will reach VND 100 million/person/year.
From a country under siege and embargo, our country has now established diplomatic relations with 193 countries, including 6 comprehensive strategic partners, 12 strategic partners and 12 comprehensive partners. Vietnam is the center of many dynamic economic networks with more than 230 trade partners, 60 extensive free trade agreements with many aspects of cooperation. Thereby, the country's strength in all aspects is enhanced; independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity are maintained; foreign relations are increasingly expanded and deepened; Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena are enhanced.
In an article commemorating the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed: “The rich and vivid practice of the Vietnamese revolution since the Party was founded has proven that the correct and wise leadership of the Party is the leading factor determining all victories of the revolution, creating many miracles in Vietnam. On the other hand, through the process of leading the revolution, our Party has been tempered and increasingly matured, worthy of its role and mission of leading the revolution and the trust and expectations of the people.
That reality affirms a truth: In Vietnam, there is no other political force, except the Communist Party of Vietnam, that has enough courage, intelligence, experience, prestige and ability to lead the country to overcome all difficulties and challenges, leading the revolutionary cause of our nation from one victory to another. And it is also in that process that our Party has accumulated and drawn many valuable lessons, forging glorious traditions that today we have the responsibility to strive to preserve and promote. That is the tradition of infinite loyalty to the interests of the nation and the class, steadfast in the goal and ideal of national independence associated with socialism on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought".
The above achievements continue to affirm that, despite many fluctuations in the times and many changes in the world, the role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the historical flow of the nation has been, is and continues to be the only political force with sufficient position, intelligence, capacity and prestige to lead the Vietnamese people to comprehensively carry out the renovation process, protect independence, sovereignty and build and develop the country along the socialist path. Any distortion of the role, position and prestige of the Communist Party of Vietnam is worthless and is rejected by reality.
