Check the progress of the project "Research on conservation and development of genetic resources of mac pup trees in Cao Bang province"

On October 27, the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) of Cao Bang province inspected and evaluated the progress of the project "Research on conservation and development of the genetic resources of mac pupa trees in Cao Bang province", organized and chaired by the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture. The project was researched and implemented in 03 communes: Quang Uyen, Hanh Phuc; Trung Khanh. The inspection team was led by Mr. Nong Thanh Than - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology. Participating in the inspection team of the Department of Science and Technology were: Department of Science Management and Intellectual Property; Provincial Science and Technology Development Fund. Welcoming and working with the delegation were: Associate Professor Dr. Vu Ngoc Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Industrial Crops and Medicinal Plants, Faculty of Agronomy, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, Head of the task; Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Thai Hoang, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture; Cooperatives in the province; comrades from Quang Uyen commune including the following positions: Vice Chairman of the People's Committee; Agricultural Station; Economic Department.

The working group of the Department of Science and Technology inspected the experimental site to evaluate and select the golden soybean variety in Dong Thai hamlet, Quang Uyen commune.

The delegation inspected the following models: Mac Pup tree nursery in Quang Uyen commune; experiments to perfect the technical process of planting and caring for Mac Pup trees in Hanh Phuc commune; Mac Pup tree planting model in Hanh Phuc and Trung Khanh communes.

  According to the progress report of the unit in charge of implementation from 2022 to present, some contents of the contract have been achieved. In which: Completed the report on the results of the investigation of the current status of production, consumption and assessment of genetic diversity of the mac pup tree gene source in Cao Bang ; completed experiments on seed propagation process, propagation process by cutting method for mac pup tree; built a solid nursery with galvanized steel stakes. Propagated 3,000 pots with a total of 6,000 trees, exceeding the contract by 3,500 trees. In 2024, propagated 1,000 more pots to provide more for people; Currently, 100 holes have been planted, each hole has 2-3 mac pup trees.

Regarding scientific and technological results: The host unit has completed the construction of a 100 m² nursery (the number of seedlings in the nursery reached 4,000 trees (compared to the plan, it exceeded 1,500 trees); built a model of the original nursery (200 trees) and 02 production planting models in Quang Hoa and Trung Khanh, the trees grew well; training and technical transfer for technical staff and farmers were carried out correctly and in sufficient quantity...

Based on the explanation and implementation progress, the Inspection Team acknowledged the efforts of the host unit, the implementation of the tasks closely followed the work contents according to the approved explanation documents, ensuring the requirements on progress, quality and volume. The research results have high practical significance, contributing to the conservation and development of precious genetic resources of mac pup trees, creating a basis for the development of raw material areas and endemic products of Cao Bang province. The models, technical processes and transfer activities have laid the foundation for application in local production. At the same time, the Team requested that the host unit submit all supporting documents (specifically: list of surveyed collectives and individuals; list of people receiving seedlings...) as a basis for the products of the project and to determine the volume according to regulations; In reality, the level of development of mac pupa trees in localities is not uniform, the unit should analyze the causes, especially problems caused by drought, water shortage, severe heat... to supplement recommendations for people on some adaptive measures...
