The new house of Mrs. Vu Thi Thom, Kien Xuong town (Kien Xuong) is about to be completed.
As the political and administrative center of the district, Kien Xuong town still relies mainly on agricultural production, the rate of poor and near-poor households with housing needs is still high. Therefore, since December 2024, Kien Xuong town has established a Steering Committee (SC) to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; a committee to mobilize funds to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; at the same time, develop a detailed plan and organize a conference to mobilize the entire population to respond. Mr. Tran Van Luc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Kien Xuong town, said: We identify this as an important political task with profound humanitarian significance, so the mobilization and propaganda work is widely deployed to each residential area. From December 2024 to March 2025, Kien Xuong town mobilized more than 74 million VND and deposited 100% of the amount into the relief account of the district's Fatherland Front at the Social Policy Bank. Up to now, Kien Xuong town has 7 poor and near-poor households newly built and repaired; 1 policy household newly built. The joy is evident on every face when living in a new, sturdy and spacious house. Mrs. Vu Thi Thom, 90 years old, Thong Nhat area, Kien Xuong town emotionally shared: I have lived alone in an old, dilapidated house for many years. Every time it rains and winds, I am worried that it will collapse. Thanks to the attention of all levels, I now have a new, solid house with an area of 30m2 . I am very happy, thank the Party and State for their attention and support.
In Vu Quy commune, the project implementation has been carried out systematically and effectively. Mr. Nguyen Van Ly, Chairman of Vu Quy Commune People's Committee, said: Implementing the direction of the province and district, Vu Quy commune has established a Steering Committee to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; developed a plan to strengthen leadership and direction in implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses; organized a peak emulation campaign "300 days of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" in the commune; established a fund mobilization committee to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, assigned members of the Steering Committee to be in charge of villages to coordinate in mobilizing and urging. The commune specifically assigned each member of the Steering Committee to be in charge of villages, coordinated in propagating, mobilizing and effectively mobilizing socialized resources from the people. Up to now, Vu Quy commune has 2 households in difficult circumstances that have been able to build new houses, including the family of Ms. Doan Thi Thuy, village 1. Raising 2 children alone for 18 years after her husband passed away, Ms. Thuy never dared to dream of having a solid house. However, thanks to the support of the local government and people, Ms. Thuy's family is now living in a new house full of warmth and love. Mr. Doan Xuan Diem, Ms. Thuy's father, tearfully confided: We love our children and grandchildren, but we are old and cannot help much. Now that my children and grandchildren are living in a new house, I am very happy. Thank you to the government and to the people for your care and help. Ms. Thuy emotionally shared: Every brick, every meter of wall is a token of love. My children and I are very grateful to everyone. From now on, we have a decent place to live, I will try to work hard to raise my children to study properly.
After screening, Kien Xuong district has 201 poor and near-poor households supported to build houses under the project, including 164 newly built houses and 37 repaired houses. By mid-May 2025, 101 houses were completed and put into use, 94 houses were in the process of completion, and 6 houses were no longer needed. For households with meritorious services, the whole district has 61 houses eligible for support, including 34 newly built houses and 27 repaired houses. To date, 30 houses have been completed, 30 houses are under construction, and 1 house is no longer needed. To ensure the completion of the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, in the coming time, authorities at all levels, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and relevant departments and branches in the district will strengthen coordination, urge, and guide households to implement. Along with that, the Finance - Planning Department presides over and coordinates with relevant units to issue documents guiding the use of funds and settlement of payments in accordance with regulations. In particular, the district focuses on resolving land procedure problems, creating favorable conditions for people to build houses.
Supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Kien Xuong not only solves the essential housing needs of the poor and meritorious people, but also contributes to building an increasingly developed and civilized locality, so that no one is left behind.
