On the morning of April 8, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police, said that the unit had controlled and extinguished a large fire on Dinh Nup Street, in Lien Gia 10, Tan Lap Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, preventing the fire from spreading to residential areas.
Previously, at around 5:50 p.m. on April 7, a fire suddenly broke out and spread rapidly at a grassy area with piles of debris, trash, etc. on Dinh Nup Street, Tan Lap Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City.
Due to dry weather and strong winds, the fire quickly spread to the scrap yard next door, where it contained many plastics and other flammable materials, causing flames and smoke to cover the entire area, making it difficult to extinguish.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police , mobilized 45 officers, soldiers and 7 fire trucks to the scene to put out the fire. Because the fire was near a residential area, the authorities coordinated with the people to actively put out the fire, prioritizing preventing the fire from spreading to people's houses. At around 18:30, the fire was completely controlled, fortunately causing no human casualties and not spreading to neighboring residential areas.
Major Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police, recommended that Dak Lak is currently in the peak of the dry season in 2025, and people need to further strengthen fire prevention and fighting in residential areas. Especially in dry grass fields and areas where flammable materials are stored, people need to raise awareness, not burn trash, and litter cigarette butts to avoid the risk of fire and explosion.
